I heard that the protrusions on NAC DM Mk IIs rooftop has to do with ventilation shafts. But AFAIK, this type of bus does not have any such feature. So what purpose do those protrusions serve?

I know TIB 838 H was last seen on service 172 but not sure if it is still with 172. -

928G is usually on 169 or 851.
1017D and 1018B are the famous twin Volgren Lance brothers of 851! how can u not noe. -
Saw TIB928G on 851 today.

Volgren Lances are perm on 851, but that doesn't mean other services can't borrow them. I once saw one of them serving 106 back in 2001. Couldn't be Hino Volgren because the rego had 4 digits.

I find that the areas inside Seletar Camp (esp along svc 103W) are excellent locations for bus photography. I believe that such photos will be very beautiful, with Singapore buses photographed in such a scenic and beautiful background.
But I dare not try, because of the big signboard outside the camp stating "NO PHOTOGRAPHY". but the guardhouse had already been relocated and these areas that are accessible by svc 103 & 103W are now regarded as public places right??

If you want to take the bus photos, try do it in the afternoon when less people is around will be better.. however, dont do near the guardhouses near the airport..

T or TQ shifts actually stand for "three-quarter ", where drivers do approx. 13 hours, or ¾ of the full 18-hour day.Originally posted by Townlink 268:hi all...

S shifts stand for "split" shift, where driver's shifts are split between morning and evening peak hour.
the same drivers who drive S shift on weekdays will drive T shift on weekends. now u noe why u only see "special" buses during peak hours only and find it hard to catch at other times. these "special" buses include 997A, 2988M, 2989K and 9889U.
the other type of shifts are A/P (or full-day) shifts and also E ("extended" ) shift. A/P is quite self-explanatory. shift changing times are anytime between 2.30pm-3.30pm.
for E shift, it is the equivalent of a TQ shift but with a split/break in between. tis is the most difficult shift and most svcs only have one bus or no buses running on E shift. a typical example will be from 6am-9am, 11am-8pm. -
there's also a N shift for niteowl drivers on fridays, saturdays & eve of public holidays

for scania, tis is the info i've got from the archives:
MOST Scania chassii have rear mounted engines, there are very few mid mounted underfloor examples)
The prefix applies to how the engine is mounted.
L = Vertically mounted engine, tilted 30 degrees to the left (not sure how it is tilted as such)
K = Vertically mounted engine
N = vertically mounted engine, horizontally opposed (east-west mounted)
F = front engined, vertically mounted.
I'm sure there are others, so please help.
These are the digits which signify the engine capacity, and follow immediately after the prefix.
9 = 9 litre engine (from 1st to 4th series)
11 = 11 litre engine (from 1st to 3rd series)
12 = 12 litre engine (from 4th series)
The following digits, which follow the engine capacity indicate the series
1 = 1st series
2 = 2nd series
3 = 3rd series
4 = 4th series
The suffixes inidicate the chassis type, and other extra details.
CRB = standard/city floor height with stepped entry (1st to 3rd series)
CRL = low floor chassis (1st to 3rd series)
ARB = standard floor height articulated chassis (1st to 3rd series)
ARL = low floor articulated chassis (1st to 3rd series)
TRB = extended chassis (1st to 3rd series)
For the above, the second letter indicates where the driving controls are situated.
R = Right hand drive
L = Left hand drive
UB = low floor chassis (4th series)
UA = low floor articulated (4th series)
IB = "intercity" height chassis with stepped entry (4th series)
EB = touring chassis? (4th series)
These suffixes denotes what kind of floor height is "married" to the chassis, which is denoted by the prefix. It only applies to the 4th series of Scania chassii.
Ok, now the examples.
K94IB = vertically mounted, 9 litre motor, 4th series chassis, intercity floor chassis
N113ARB = horizontally opposed vertically mounted 11 litre motor, articulated standard/city floor chassis
L113TRB = vertically mounted 11 litre motor tilted 30 degrees to the left on an extended chassis -

the life span of the vehicles is related to the type of plate (or more impt, type of vehicle/use) they are registered under:
PA- 20 yrs, Road Tax Applicable, COE Applicable, 5% ARF, No PARF rebate on scrap.
W?- 20 yrs, Road Tax Applicable, COE Applicable, 5% ARF, No PARF rebate on scrap.
RU- No limit, No Road Tax, No COE, No ARF, No PARF rebate on scrap, Use on Sentosa only (RU vehicles is not necessary limited to Sentosa, it can be in their respective areas of use e.g. maybe Pulau Ubin, Jurong Island etc.)
