Wat about from Farrer to Adam, Bukit Brown..... ? These are all duplications...Originally posted by tranquilice:Service 93 doesn't duplicates CCL fully. The service only duplicates CCL between Upp Paya Lebar and Bartley stations, and between HarbourFront and Alexandra stations. I hope it will not be withdrawn, the most it gets amend.
From Clementi, service 165 provides a direct link to Upp Thomson which is not served by CCL, and is faster than taking service 166.
Many people would say that 93 would be withdrawn...But if it is withdrawn, some people may complain and I dun think 93 is duplicating the whole circle line right? An amendment will do (or shortening). By withdrawing 93, it is a similar case to withdrawing 85. 85 did not duplicate the whole of NEL, it did not ply Chinatown, etc. But was withdrawn as it plied majority of NEL stations.Originally posted by muziq bus:Wat about from Farrer to Adam, Bukit Brown..... ? From U.P.L to Bartley
Bt. Brown to Farrer
Alexandra to Harbourfront...
datz a lot of copyin.....
93 surely out of the game.... very hard to ammend...
u will never noe wat the LTA is capable of...
SMRT gets to run Circle Line, 93 and 165 are operated by SBST. SBST will still keep these 2 lines.Originally posted by 5454:i hope SBST don't withdraw service 93 and 165.
Farrer Park seems to have many exits and it has large plots of vacant land. i believe Farrer Park is built as an interchange in mind. after all, tunnelling could go under Kg Java, Owen and Rangoon Rd to reach Farrer Park, which seems to complete tis picture quite nicely.Originally posted by tranquilice:From the terminating point at Millenia, BTL most likely has to intersect with EWL Bugis station by following Rochor Rd, and since Bugis and Little India stations are not that far, it doesn't make sense to "divert" BTL to Farrer Park and back to NSL Newton station. Most probably BTL will follow the alignment of Bt Timah Rd/Dunearn Rd.
Remember Tibs 106 was shortened due to NEL? NEL is operated by SBST. Yep, SMRT operates Circle Line, same concept applies to 93 and 165. Although they duplicated some stations, doesn't mean it is bound to be withdrawn. They will defintiely be amended or shortened.Originally posted by PJ_Quek:SMRT gets to run Circle Line, 93 and 165 are operated by SBST. SBST will still keep these 2 lines.
Hougang, AMK, Upper Thomson, Ulu Pandan are not served by Circle Line. If SBST withdraw 165 (unless otherwise ordered by LTA), they lose the competition with SMRT. Same goes to 93, it can be stayed, to fill up the pockets left out by Circle Line.
Another route we should concerned is 24. Besides AMK Ave 1, Boundary Rd, parts of Upper Paya Lebar Rd, parts of New Upper Changi Rd, it is duplicating with North South Line, Circle Line and East West Line.

24, of course, it is going to be affected. Likewise for 22 too. Some services that plies between serangoon and Paya Lebar area will be affected.
That reminded me of 70 and 158 as well. 158 would be duplicated from Serangoon until MacPherson, and 70 would be duplicated from Serangoon until Paya Lebar at least.Originally posted by iveco:Don't chop 165. As for 24, there may be minor amendments. Whatever the case, the CCL anchor has to be svc 70.
158 serves an important link between Serangoon Int and Serangoon Ave 1Originally posted by PJ_Quek:That reminded me of 70 and 158 as well. 158 would be duplicated from Serangoon until MacPherson.
Don't forget Svc 70 also plies Nicoll Highway.Originally posted by PJ_Quek:That reminded me of 70 and 158 as well. 158 would be duplicated from Serangoon until MacPherson, and 70 would be duplicated from Serangoon until Paya Lebar at least.
Future 158 amended after Circle Line fully operating could be plying only between Tanjung Rhu and Geylang Lor 1.Originally posted by 105090:158 serves an important link between Serangoon Int and Serangoon Ave 1
Also, Tanjong Rhu residents also needs 158![]()
This possibility has been mentioned by me in an old thread.Originally posted by PJ_Quek:Future 158 amended after Circle Line fully operating could be plying only between Tanjung Rhu and Geylang Lor 1.
Subject: MRT Circle Line Stage 6 and Eastern Region LineReply from LTA:
On 14 June 2005, LTA announced the plan to build MRT Downtown Extension (DTE). Is DTE the replacement for Circle Line (CCL) Stage 6 which connects HarbourFront to Millenia via Downtown at Marina Bay? If it isn''t, will CCL Stage 6 still be build in the future?
On the DTE location map, it shows that one end of Eastern Region Line (ERL) will terminates at Chinatown station. From my knowledge, the route of ERL will be in the eastern area, so why does one end of ERL terminates at Chinatown which is at the southern area? Also, will ERL be using trains from CCL Kim Chuan depot or will ERL has a depot on its own?
I thank you for your precious time taken to answer my enquiries.

It's like making a big detour when actually it can go on a straight route.Originally posted by ^tamago^:Farrer Park seems to have many exits and it has large plots of vacant land. i believe Farrer Park is built as an interchange in mind. after all, tunnelling could go under Kg Java, Owen and Rangoon Rd to reach Farrer Park, which seems to complete tis picture quite nicely.
the vacant land around Little India makes it seem too crowded to have an interchange there, imo.
We all should face the fact that some of the services will be withdrawn...we should not live in denial......93 will be affected..... Service 93 may be affected but whether it will be withdrawn or not, we will know when the time comes.Originally posted by muziq bus:We all should face the fact that some of the services will be withdrawn...we should not live in denial......93 will be affected.....
