Poll : Plastic Desto or Electronic Desto ?

Which do you prefer ?
Let's compare SBST's plastic desto and Dennis Trident Electronic desto ?
Definately the electronic desto , looks pretty smart . Quite expensive to maintain it from what I hear but its easy for everyone including the driver which just have to click some buttons to activate it. Will SBST install Electronic desto on their future buses? Let's see. -

well i choose orange coz they are easier seen in the day as compared to green leds

Because can have chinese character too... And so much cheaper -
I like both Plastic Desto and Electronic Desto.

EDS can be programmed to display Chinese words, like what is done in HK. Anyway, with EDS there is no worry for routes like 98, 139, 155 & St Mikes services. Not to mention 170 @ WDL central.Originally posted by sbst275:Acrylic desto

Plastic destoes need to be changed when bus services are amended. The wordings also tend to fade out. -
A mixture would be nice....... I used to think it was interesting when the Lances came with plastic desto. Blue colour some-more.

UMW Lances were originally designed to have plastic destos. However, there was no desto holder on the side, so Tibs had to paste them to the window.
Anyway, the UMW Lances' EDS (with exception of CSS310?) can't display street names like those on the rest fo the fleet. How come? -
It wouldd be great if the front and side desto is EDS while the back is plastic.

Plastic Acrylic Destos for the single decks, and EDS for the DDs. the HK DDs look very smart. SD buses have plastic destos to preserve tradition? but then, SBS has a large fleet, and EDS may cost a bomb.

EDS as it is easier and brighter to be seen at night compared to the plastic desto which need to be lit by fluorescent lights.

Stay wif the old plastic destos. Having EDS installed on all buses = higher fares. Plus noticed that some SMRT buses has had spoiled EDS b4. The new fonts are meant to make the numbers clearer for commuters to see from far. Also the new fonts to me are nice, but depends on the spacing of the numbers. To me 65 looks nice.

Yeah. Plastic Desto for older buses, EDS for newer buses. By the way, the only MkIV DM3500 having EDS is now serving 153?

If SMRT BUSES merge with SBST than maybe we can see Electronic Desto on SBST services and Plastic Desto on SMRT BUS services.

I have no problem with the old font as I still can see the numbers from far. I think if SBS Transit can afford to buy the EDS, then it is a good idea, if not, use the Plastic desto, it is cheaper.
