Isn't there is 197 now?Originally posted by WindyDay:Love the route too....I am glad there is now a direct route from Parkway Parade to Bugis Junction.

agree with u.Originally posted by iamgoondu:You probably got to wait till SBST takes back Sembawang, else SMRT would still want you to take their train.
Waiting time for SMRT61 may not be too bad. I would probably give up on SMRT61 as SBST48 is definitely plying on a more direct and lesser traffic route.
There is...but 197's route isnt as "direct" as one likes it to be. There are about 19 stops between Parkway Parade and Bugis Junction.Originally posted by sbst275:Isn't there is 197 now?
OK lah...Originally posted by WindyDay:There is...but 197's route isnt as "direct" as one likes it to be. There are about 19 stops between Parkway Parade and Bugis Junction.
Looking at the new Service 48 route indicated in the SBST press release.....what separates Parkway and Bugis is the express sector ECP. There are definitely far fewer stops between the two (exact number unknown at this point). That's more "direct" IMO.
I prefer Sixth Ave over Farrer too. Moreover at present we have SBST165 to provide the linkage between Holland and Farrer. Perhaps SBST just would not want to overload Sixth Ave (it now has 156, 77 and 970, FF174?)Originally posted by SBS9889U:Service 48 will be good if it serves BT timah Rd all the way till Sixth Ave then to Holland Rd instead of Farrer rd. I am sure more people will take it
174e aka Sv 521 dun call thereOriginally posted by iamgoondu:I prefer Sixth Ave over Farrer too. Moreover at present we have SBST165 to provide the linkage between Holland and Farrer. Perhaps SBST just would not want to overload Sixth Ave (it now has 156, 77 and 970, FF174?)
there is presently no direct linkage between Bt Timah Rd and Holland Village. been waiting for this for quite long. finally a bus from holland ave to dunearn rd. previously it would have been 106 -> 165 -> 153 for bus pass holders who are lazy to walk up the hill and across the bridge to take 165.Originally posted by iamgoondu:I prefer Sixth Ave over Farrer too. the load profile and target commuter bases of 48 and 95 are very different. making SWTs for peak hours may jus prove too messy for the home-going crowd. furthermore, there is duplication with 151. for every reason, SBST will wan to keep 151 as it is there for a purpose.Originally posted by khk:i agree w u tt if this svc connects to bt timah/dunearn rd via sixth ave, it would be able to tap the potential of the njc/nygh/hci area...as access to bugis n holland v will b direct n convenient for the young crowd...anyway passengership along farrer rd not tt high....yah extension to nus will b an added boost for the svc...95 can be scrapped...
It does not go to Bedok.Originally posted by NineGrains:Upper East Coast 48 Buona Vista
A new service from Holland Road-City-Bedok-Marine Parade!
The service cannot use DDs due to height restriction along Dunearn Rd/Bt Timah Rd.Originally posted by muziq bus:Diz route like got potential.....i myt take diz to Parkway Parade from BT Timah....da ecp like very fast... DDs have to consider...
I hope the service can be further extended to Clementi.Originally posted by iamgoondu:If SBST48 got extended to Kent Ridge via NUH, this could provide quicker commute between NUS (SMU) and NUS (Kent Ridge).
By extending it to Bedok via Tanah Merah MRT will duplicates service 14.Originally posted by 105090:can see most east side services has double digits (except 168 ).. actually, if 48 wants a better load, can extend it to Bedok via Tanah Merah MRT..
mainly i think is to make Upper EC Terminal have more services, but the area has so few people at all times!
But when going back, you have to walk to Ophir Rd which is quite a distance away.Originally posted by WindyDay:Love the route too....I am glad there is now a direct route from Parkway Parade to Bugis Junction.
beats walking to Bras Basah Rd & take 36Originally posted by tranquilice:But when going back, you have to walk to Ophir Rd which is quite a distance away.
The map from the SBST press release indicates that the route includes Bedok South Ave 1. (See press release to verify yourself)Originally posted by tranquilice:It does not go to Bedok.
I think he meant Bedok housing estate. The stretch that svc 48 passes through i will call it east coast.Originally posted by NineGrains:The map from the SBST press release indicates that the route includes Bedok South Ave 1. (See press release to verify yourself)
So it does go to Bedok.

Plenty of potential imo! imagine from Tekka[fish head curry area-Race Course Rd] to Marine Parade no nd to get to Bugis or Lavender to tfr bus home! rite now got 41 ah??Originally posted by Acx1688:Mayb coz Chai Chee area used to be dominated by 4 series buses>>
Sv 40 Bedok - MacPherson[loop]
Sv 41 Bedok - RedHill[merged w sv197 became sv197]
sv 42 Originates from Chai Chee
sv 44 Originates from Chai Chee plying part of present sv33 route.
So 48 doesnt seem to be a surprise as UEC still part of Bedok
