SMRT 'display' thingy

Can anybody tell me what's the purpose of the message on the ceiling of some buses that say 'SMRT welcomes you on board'...
Today i was on TIB765J and it is a converted merc and i think that thing is recently installed. -
they dont need to use Mothballz to ball Mothz.

Oh.. I also saw that on most SMRT buses 0405, its the same as SMRT's bendy buses, those displaying the time, date year or whatever.

"SINGAPORE", "WELCOME ABROAD SMRT" are usually phrases that displayed on the LED boards of those O405s. What a waste of money... -

SMRT buses is copying SMRT trains's Visual Passenger Information System (VPIS) - installed on kawasaki's new black train. Actually a bus with this LED display is useful. It tells us the date and time and for people who did not bring heir watches or don't know the date or whatever.

I think SMRT is trying out the GPS which makes the LED to display something like
NEXT STOP: ORCHARD ROAD LUCKY PLAZA -

and that phrase scroll continuously...it gets quite irritating at times...
and the word "SINGAPORE" is so thick and bold... -
At least SMRT installed this display system and not the speaker system like which was on TIB 800 R.......the driver dont even noe how to pronounce the name of the station properly....so horrible....... this new display is more quiet and peaceful...

Oh, and there is a black boxy thing installed on top of the driver behind him facing the windscreen, its something like those CCTV screen on the dashboard of the SMRT Bendies.

SMRT audio thingy
Boarded TIB 628Y on 11/9/05
Had the same black speaker system similar to that on TIB 800 R...located on a black pole behind the driver
The driver used the speaker system to urge passengers to move to the rear..
also, he informed passengers on the next train station the bus was approaching..
"Next stop Clementi"
"Next stop Dover"
"Next stop Ghim Moh"
Funny thing was, both the drivers from 628y n 800r refer to Buona Vista station as Ghim Moh...
