Which bus engine sound do you like and hate most.
I like the MK IV DM 3500. Smooth and quiet engine
I don't like the Dennis UMW Lances UK / Malaysia. The engine is Very loud.
I too like the engine sound of MK IV DM 3500 buses.Originally posted by CAIX:Another Question to all fans out there.

Walter Alexander and Duple Metsec have since been consolidated into the Transbus group that also includes Dennis (the company is now renamed Alexander Dennis). Bus history in the UK is a bit messy. If there is anyone from that part of the world, I hope you enlighten us on the British bus industry.Originally posted by 105090:How does Duple Metsec DM and Walter Alexandra WA differs? are they 2 different companies who tenders for building buses from eg volvo mercedes?
Yes, I remembered the OAC Scanias and Mercs had cloth covered aircon ducts. Not sure about MK3s. The cloth was black colour. And the aircon ducts on the OAC Mercs cannot be adjusted (ie. cannot adjust the direction of flow of aircon).Originally posted by iveco:Tranq: the OAC Scanias, Mercs and Mk IIIs used to have cloth covered aircon ducts, am I right? I can't quite remember how it was like before refurbishment. ADDs and Mk IVs use leather ducts, AFAIK.
The UDs may be old, but they are fantastic buses.Originally posted by SBS9889U:SMRT buses all quite good except for CAC MB0405 and NISSAN
Not fantastic to me.Originally posted by sbs&tibs:The UDs may be old, but they are fantastic buses.
Sorry about that. Because I can't dig through the forum to look for that topic, there are simply too many topics. Morever most of the topics are close.Originally posted by sBs_boy:Pls.. theres already another similar thread out there the same as your Question.. PLS keep to the topic.. Thx..
Yes, they are very nice, nicer than SBS Transit. But SMRT buses are too expensive, and their fleet size is very small. SMRT should consider buying less expensive and more buses.Originally posted by SBS3624G:All SMRT buses interior I like.
VO3X 9401-9670 very good.
MKIV DM ok.
The rest I endure.
I like the current situation. I take SMRT for fun.Originally posted by CAIX:Yes, they are very nice, nicer than SBS Transit. But SMRT buses are too expensive, and their fleet size is very small. SMRT should consider buying less expensive and more buses.
if smrt have more buses in its fleet, means more services will be introduced...but where? smrt wont bother anyway....myt as well have more expensive buses...Originally posted by CAIX:Yes, they are very nice, nicer than SBS Transit. Trans-Island has merged with SMRT. Because now is a rail + buses company, SMRT would rather focus on their trains than on buses. Why make it so complex ? I suggest SBS Transit be the bus company and SMRT be the train company. SMRT should have retained the subway monopoly and left Tibs alone. The sector swap may not even have occurred at all.Originally posted by CAIX:Trans-Island has merged with SMRT. SBS Transit controls of - SBS Transit Buses & NEL
SMRT controls of - SMRT Buses & EWL, NSL
isn't this very complex ?
But i thought.....tibs was already under smrt in 2001...juz dat now, they adopt the corporate name and logo...so the way they manage should still be the same as tibs wat.........like in the website, SMRT is divided into many parts like smrt taxis, smrt buses.....a change of name wouldnt make much difference would it?Originally posted by CAIX:Trans-Island has merged with SMRT. True, but didn't you notice how things changed after the merger? No new buses have been purchased. The habits were bought a few months before the merger. Only 4 new services were introduced since the merger wheras tibs would introduce new services frequently in the 90s When they just merged, they still functioned as different companies but under a arent company. But in 2002, they merged their backroom resources. So, the change you see is a slow process, not an immediate process.Originally posted by muziq bus:But i thought.....tibs was already under smrt in 2001...juz dat now, they adopt the corporate name and logo...so the way they manage should still be the same as tibs wat.........like in the website, SMRT is divided into many parts like smrt taxis, smrt buses.....a change of name wouldnt make much difference would it?

Yes, they should. Or rather SMRT buses can be merged with SBS Transit & SBS Transit 's NEL hand over to SMRT. This will solve the complexness between the two company.Originally posted by iveco:SMRT should have retained the subway monopoly and left Tibs alone.
