Names of 12 Circle Line stations finalised

SINGAPORE : The names for the 12 stations for stages one to three of the MRT Circle Line have been finalised.
For Stage One, the five names picked are Bras Basah, Esplanade, Promenade, Nicoll Highway and Stadium Stations.
The four stations for Stage Two will be called Mountbatten, Dakota, MacPherson and Tai Seng.
While the three stations for Stage Three will be named Bartley, Lorong Chuan and Marymount.
LTA said it had received overwhelming and positive response from the public on the proposed names.
It is now inviting feedback on the names for the eight stations along Stages Four and Five of the Circle Line.
You can give your views till July 20 through the Feedback Unit's e-consultation portal or the LTA website.
When completed by 2010, the 33-kilometre Circle Line will run from Dhoby Ghaut Station in Orchard Road to the HarbourFront Station at the southern tip of Singapore. - CNA/de

1. Dunearn Station, as it might be the interchange for future Bt Timah Line
2. Woollerton Station, to avoid sounding like farrer park station... i think farrer park in the first place is named wrongly...
3. Holland Station, no need holland village station sound so obiang
4. One North Station, sound cool
5. Science Park Station, in fact it is near Science Park instead of One North.
6. Pasir Panjang Station
7. Labrador Station, minus the park
8. Keppel Station. Sound cool also. -

Cluny Park(Near Cluny park/cluny park road). Botanic Garden sounds nice but it is at the v north part only....If there is not going to be a Bukit Timah Line, this station might have been suitable to be called Bukit Timah. Dont know if this area is known as Dunearn. Dunearn Road spans quite a distance..
Farrer Garden. Woollerton is more unfamiliar, 'Farrer Road' doesnt sound like a station name. It is very near Farrer Garden. I suppose Farrer Garden is different enough from Farrer Park! And i think Farrer Road is powerful enough for the station there to have a "Farrer--" name. They cannot call it 'Farrer' because of Farrer Park.........If not Farrer Garden, then Farrer Court. But that is further away from the station.
Holland Village. I think it sounds nice. Holland is fine.
One North
Kent Ridge. It is not yet National University. Unless they going to use University Hospital.
Pasir Panjang
Labrador Park. Labrador sounds ok also. Think the 408 will disappear.
Telok Blangah. It is near Telok Blangah residence. It doesnt seems to be Keppel yet. Someone suggested NE2 can be Keppel...... -

Hey! Singapore ran a feature on how the area got the name dakota and 2 of the roads there got named Dakota Cres and Dakota Close. something to do with a crash of a plane along the runway of Old Kallang Airport near the area. -

Keppel station along Telok Blangah Rd seems weird. Should be called Telok Blangah station. -

i think there are quite a number who feel that Esplanade and Promenade sound similar and may be confusing esp to tourists. Firstly, they rhyme, and 2ndly they are rather similar in meaning, though not identical. why didnt they call it 'Marina Promenade' or 'Marina Centre'?? however, the names is already finalised

I agree that Marina Promenade is a more appropriate name for Promenade station, as there's other places with the name Promenade such as Marine Parade Promenade and Kim Seng Promenade. Calling the station as Promenade will lead to more confusion. -
