I have a feeling 608 may fall victim to CCL rationalisation. Dunno why.Originally posted by CAIX:Yes, please do NOT withdraw CSS 608, PLEASE ! . These buses charged the CHEAPEST fare of all !!
Hellooo? Excuse me? RIDERSHIP FOR CSS608 IS NOT LOW! Try to take 608 in the mornings & evenings, you have 2 to stand from East Coast Rd to Suntec, & from Shenton Way to Mountbatten. Please do not comment coz there are a lot of pple who utilise this svc to get to work & tt includes me! I have been taking the svc since i wuz a kid. The ridership is definitely sustainable or else bus fares would not increase! It's NOT A WASTE OF RESOURCES, BYW WHERE did u get tt idea tt ridership is low? u take 608 daily?Originally posted by cck_190:I know you all would miss 608 if it was withdrawn, but seriously, that service has to be withdrawn as the ridership is low, and also a waste of resources.Think of it this way, if 608 gets withdrawn, SMRT Buses will not have to waste resources. The buses could be transferred to add to the SMRT buses's fleet, and drivers would also be added to the SMRT staff...so many services are duplicating 608...
I agree with Acx1688 I only saw this type of situation for a few times during peak periods. Sometimes during non-peak periods which I take it the seats were almost fully occupied! The bus freqeuncy is about 6-8mins which is very fast and every bus that comes will sure have people in the bus and not don't have at all one which is rare. They take Sv 608 to work and home as it is cheaper than SBST and SMRT even though they raised their fares with effect from August. Keep CSS alive!Originally posted by Acx1688:Hellooo? Excuse me? Of course i don't take 608 daily, but i do take quite a lot of times already. from what i see, 608 is only usually full during morning and evening...not so much of the normal hours...Originally posted by Acx1688:Hellooo? The bus serves the older gen pop from Bukit Merah to Chinatown... then for the school children in the East Area. won't say it's packed to the brim but is sustainable at the frequency it has...Originally posted by cck_190:Of course i don't take 608 daily, but i do take quite a lot of times already. from what i see, 608 is only usually full during morning and evening...not so much of the normal hours...![]()
So I say they should not the service as they are still some commuters taking their buses like the school children, office workers and all the ah jeks and ah sohs are not they commuters to take the bus which they still can earn some profit from them and better than not earning from that route anymore by withdrawing it. Sv 608 still got people take oneOriginally posted by Acx1688:The bus serves the older gen pop from Bukit Merah to Chinatown... then for the school children in the East Area. won't say it's packed to the brim but is sustainable at the frequency it has...
Not that soon, why fare adjustment?Originally posted by SBS3688Y:I like CSS, the buses and its livery.
But I somehow got the feeling that CSS608 may be withdrawn in the near future, looking at the way CSS withdrew its services one by one. Imagine one company running only one service??(though its a subsidiary of SMRT Corp)
If CSS 608 were to be withdrawn someday, I believe at least part of its route may be replaced by SBST or SMRTB. But I'll be very sad should this day come.
I think that they are making a loss and not profit so they increase the fare as it has maintained the low fare for quite a few years. Now it is the time for them to raise after SBST and SMRT did that. But the increase was just only 1 cent increase for ez-link but 10 cents increase for cash!Originally posted by sbst275:Not that soon, why fare adjustment?
Maybe not, the CSS company may wind up anytime now. Now there's only 1 service left... 608.Originally posted by gorby107:I hope that they can introduce some new services???? What do you all think of it??? Is it possible to do that or is it not????
All buses rename to SMRT and use as SMRT 608 but with cheaper prices?Originally posted by CAIX:Maybe not, the CSS company may wind up anytime now. Now there's only 1 service left... 608.
Ha ha ! I suggested this... But replys says that SMRT won't want to take over CSS 608.Originally posted by SBS9889U:All buses rename to SMRT and use as SMRT 608 but with cheaper prices?
It is entirely impossible. Either keep service 608 in this state for as long as possible or withdraw it. No new service will be introduced.Originally posted by gorby107:I hope that they can introduce some new services???? What do you all think of it??? Is it possible to do that or is it not????
Will not happens. Refer to the post above this.Originally posted by SBS9889U:All buses rename to SMRT and use as SMRT 608 but with cheaper prices?
Service 608 is now under SMRT Buses.Originally posted by CAIX:Ha ha ! I suggested this... But replys says that SMRT won't want to take over CSS 608.
Oh yes, 608 is now SMRT.Originally posted by tranquilice:Service 608 is now under SMRT Buses.
City Shuttle Service or Singapore Shuttle Services is now under SMRT private limited and last time was TibsOriginally posted by CAIX:Oh yes, 608 is now SMRT.
Singapore Shuttle Bus (SSB) was the bus company operating the City Shuttle Services (CSS).Originally posted by gorby107:City Shuttle Service or Singapore Shuttle Services is now under SMRT private limited and last time was Tibs
It's Singapore Shuttle bus and SMRT is Limited so does SBS Transit. If they are private might as well granted Woodlands Transport to run public buses mind youOriginally posted by gorby107:City Shuttle Service or Singapore Shuttle Services is now under SMRT private limited and last time was Tibs
CSS was a joint op between SSB and NTUC Comfort, to be exact. Sadly, all the Comfort routes are long gone. 604 would have been most useful if it still existed today.Originally posted by tranquilice:Singapore Shuttle Bus (SSB) was the bus company operating the City Shuttle Services (CSS).
If demand is that low, there won't be a fare hike and it would have been one of the firsts to be withdrawn. I dare say its demand is definitely higher than even some normal trunk services we have currently.Originally posted by cck_190:I know you all would miss 608 if it was withdrawn, but seriously, that service has to be withdrawn as the ridership is low, and also a waste of resources.Think of it this way, if 608 gets withdrawn, SMRT Buses will not have to waste resources.
