I suspect in KL, they will pass through KL Sentral. Maybe at somewhere near KL Sentral.Originally posted by iveco:You mean the Handal Indah service? Which terminal will it call at? Some southbound routes start operations from Terminal Pasar Rakyat near Jln Imbi.
no. contrary to popular belief, KL Sentral is not a place where trains and buses interchange. it is rather where different rail systems interchange. the nearest place u can grab a city bus is out at jln tun sambanthan, and there are not more than 10 services running.Originally posted by SBS9889U:I suspect in KL, they will pass through KL Sentral. Welcome myshinshin!Originally posted by myshinshin:This is my very first post in this forum.
......
For a start, let me link the graphic showing the route of 4 new bus services. The 4 are feeder buses to feed Ampang and Seri Petaling LRT lines (formerly Starline) with more passengers from nearby estates, so the rail facility is not under utilised.
.......
The 4 routes were launched early September 2005. All services come at a frequency of 15 minutes. As Klang Valley is much more sprawling, some of these routes are quite long-haul, for example,, 401 that travels from Tasek Selatan all the way deep into the residential areas behind Phoenix Plaza, unlike feeders in Singapore which usually only serve particular neighbourhoods around the train stations. I called them feeders because they feed the passengers into the LRT systems, rather than trunk services that carry passengers to the town center directly.

Welcome myshinshin!
Just wondering, are you familiar with the revamp of the whole system after the mergers? I just came back from KL and I noticed that they combined two of the LRT lines into RapidKL and I think two of the bus companies were taken over by RapidKL too. There's been plenty of new services introduced to serve as feeder to the LRT stations.
As far as I know the bus operators are:
RapidKL (absorbing former Intrakota and Cityliner buses)
Intrakota
Metrobus
Selangor Omnibus
Len Seng Bus
KL Sentral joins up all of these lines together (including KLIA Express and KLIA Transit plus the regular KTM Intercity service) with the exception of the RapidKL's former Star Line.

As far as I know the bus operators are:Metrobus goes to mainly Subang Jaya, Selayang, Ampang, Serdang and Klang. Selangor Omnibus and Len Seng are decades old companies, the former is now serving KL - Kepong - Sri Damansara - Sungai Buloh - Ijok - Batang Berjuntai - Kuala Selangor routes, while for the latter, around Setapak, Jalan Genting Klang and Wangsa Maju only.
RapidKL (absorbing former Intrakota and Cityliner buses)
Intrakota
Metrobus
Selangor Omnibus
Len Seng Bus
Intracity Train operators:Yes, basically it's right to say there are 5 rail-based systems in Klang Valley, namely KTM Komuter, Star, Putra, Monorail and Express Rail Link (ERL).
RapidKL (taken over Putra and Star lines)
KL Monorail
KTM Komuter (well not exactly intracity as their lines go as far as Rawang, Seremban and Port Klang)
Wanted to put in this list, but I don't think KLIA Transit and Express belongs there. Correct me if I'm wrong. When the urban area expands, there comes big conurbations incorporating several big cities, each comprising different cores and satellite towns. So whether regional services such as Komuter and KLIA Transit fall under the category "Intracity".
Originally posted by SBS9889U :For transfer between Kelana Jaya Line (Putra), KTM Komuter and KLIA Transit, you need to walk less than 15 meter as all their concourse (ticketing counters and entrance to platforms) are located side by side in the center of KL Sentral. Air Asia's brand new ticketing counter is also here.
KL Sentral joins up all the lines but you have to walk quite a bit.
Yup, the one to Terminal PUTRA, KL Sentral , Pasarakyat and dunno wad is operated by some company(i 4got) and their fares are around 2+ - 3+ Ringgit. The one to Terminal PUTRA is RM2.60 and most of the buses to genting lower skyway station have the same operator. At the places in KL where there is the Genting Bus(operated by genting highlands), they also sell their bus tix wif the Genting Skyway( Kereta Kabel Genting) tix.Originally posted by myshinshin:On a related note, coaches to Genting Highlands can be found in all the terminals, including Puduraya, Duta, Pasarakyat, Terminal Putra, KL Sentral and even KLIA. Packages come with the skyway cable car ride or even Theme park entrance...![]()
Yeah, I notice there's this huge area between the KL Sentral Monorail station and KL Sentral itself (and part of that pasar malam).Originally posted by myshinshin:I guess the only rail-based system which you really need to "walk a bit" is KL Monorail. As of now, their KL Sentral station is located across the road (Jalan Tun Sambanthan).
In fact, they do want to be part of KL Sentral. But as I said earlier, there had been a lil' bit of politicking going on. The huge car park between KL Sentral and Jalan Tun Sambanthan, where you have Ramadhan and Deepavali baazar now was supposed to be a shopping mall. However, the project was delayed.
Monorail's terminus was supposed to be located in this mall, and they will extend their concrete beam (the monorail track laa) up to this point as soon as the framework of the shopping mall is up.
The work has been on hold for really long. Everytime I go KL, it looks like the same. It must have been like that for 2 years!
And they too pass by one huge public transport hub, the (work-still-haven't-resumed) Plaza Rakyat, which would be the new terminal to replace Puduraya.
As far as I know there's another bus terminal that serves routes to the north. I'm wondering why there are also ticket booths that sell north-bound routes from Puduraya though. I'm not quite sure if there are north-bound buses boarding places in Puduraya. Haven't gone north from KL for a long time now.
Talking about Puduraya, there had been proposals to diverse the express buses instead of making them all terminate in Puduraya and hence stuck up the poor narrow Jalan Pudu. It was said north-bound coaches would be relocated to a new terminal in where Subang airport used to be, and link it up by extending Putra LRT to Subang airport, east-bound ones to Terminal Putra and south-bound coaches to Tasek Selatan, but that was never materialised.
Now, few operators have moved, or started up new trips originating from Duta and Pasarakyat terminals. Anyone has been there who can shed us some light on their operation there ?
Originally posted by PhyrePhox:Yeah that seems like just standard practice to extend the track a bit. However, they do have the planning to extend it into the new shopping center to be built on the peace of vacant land which is now a bazaar.
I can see the additional track and concrete beam, but I always thought that's just a standard rail practice (like here the MRT lines extend for the length of a normal train or more). If they're really gonna extend the line a bit, they'll be building a new station there, but the old station looks kind of permanent to me.

I'm not quite sure if it's really going to replace Puduraya or maybe the Plaza Rakyat project has been scrapped completely. I'm saying this because they seem to be renovating Puduraya and have even added some new ticket counters. I can't really verify this though, and for all I know they might just be a temporary and short-term renovation.
Originally posted by PhyrePhox:Jalan Duta terminal serves routes to north. Initially started as the terminal dedicated to airport coaches when new airport in Sepang first opened, it evolved into a special bus terminal for routes up north during festive seasons (to reduce congestion in Puduraya) and then become now a permanent terminal for northern routes.

Originally posted by PhyrePhox:Don't know anything about Pasarakyat apart from some Genting buses go there. Never been there. Seems like some other express buses also call there.
I am aware that some express buses move off from Pasarakyat, in addition to the trunk/feeder buses.
Originally posted by PhyrePhox:Yes some Nice and all Nice 2 (double decker) buses depart from old Kuala Lumpur railway station. There are still Nice buses in Puduraya. Besides EMUs (Electric Multiple Units / Komuter), Eastern and Oriental also calls at Kuala Lumpur. Railway heritage museum... I have heard 2 versions, Bandar Tasek Selatan or KL Sentral. But the KTM Railway Fan clubhouse is now located in old railway station.
I know that there are other express bus operators that move off from other places. E.g. "Nice" moves off from the old Railway station along Jalan Bangsar (which has also been downgraded from the main KTM Intercity station in KL to just another KTM Komuter station plus some kind of rail heritage museum if I'm not wrong)
Originally posted by PhyrePhox:Seen them around the area opposite Maybank Tower, near Bangkok Bank. They go to Rawang, if I am not mistaken... There's also a MegaCoach going to Rawang (or maybe Tanjung Malim ?) and a Seri Indah that goes to Kajang. You may also find a SPDKL bus that parks outside Central Market (Pasar Seni) LRT station that goes to Seremban and Port Dickson. These companies I guess are not based in KL. Wonder what their frquencies are.
Before I forget.. Also noticed that there's this other bus operator, but don't see as many buses. It goes by the name SJ Bus and sometimes SJ Express.
