Bishan 57 Bukit Merah (New Service!)

  A new service 57 from Bishan to Bukit Merah will be launched on 31 July 2005 (Sunday)!
  
  The route includes Bishan-Toa Payoh-Whitley-Newton-Bugis-Suntec City-Shenton Way-Keppel- Telok Blangah-Alexandra-Depot-Bukit Merah.
  
  Frequency 12-15 mins. Bishan: 6am-11.30pm; Bukit Merah: 5.45am-12am
  
  For the detailed route, please refer to SBST website.
  
  Any comments on route, passenger loads, possible use of bus model(s)?
  
  I can't believe SBST has introduced *another* new service! Excellent news!!

  I wonder if Service 59 will ever come back to Bishan. There used to be SBS 59 from Bishan to Jalan Kayu, which then became TIBS 59 from Ang Mo Kio to Jalan Kayu.
  
  Now they have a nice series of numbers: 54 55 56 57 and 58. Only Service 410 appears to be the odd one out now. Maybe SBST should renumber it 459.

  On the other hand, Bukit Merah Interchange will also have a new service Yippee!! Poor thing...in recent years, it lost 36, 63, 124, 125. Now at least it has a new service.

  Muziq bus..yeah you are right in bringing up the dim future prospects of Service 274. Possibility of it being withdrawn since the route duplicates SBST 57. I think Depot Road residents, CMPB and HP staff will prefer to have two services to Depot road, rather than one.

  SBST 274: long-time Bukit Merah feeder service serving Depot Road
  
  SBST 57: new service will duplicate SBST 274.
  
  CMPB: Central Manpower Base (you will need to go there for enlistment/reservist/exit permit matters)
  
  HP: Hewlett Packard (computer/technology MNC)
  
  Both CMPB and HP staff presumably take SBST 274 to work if they don't drive/take taxi. (Although it is possible they may take SBST 145, 272, 273 and SMRT 176 too)
  
  MNC: multi-national company which operates in many countries/territories.

  Service 274 can be a support for Service 57 so maybe SBST won't withdraw it.

  its a high chance sv274 / 275 be chopped, with a 131B could be introduced to copy sv275 route to improve frequency..

  I like the idea that there is now a direct Alexandra to Bukit Merah service.
  
  Previously, from PSA Building, I had to take any service along Alexandra Road to the bus stop before the AYE entrance, cross the road, walk to Gillman Heights, then wait for SBST274. A case of so near, yet so far.
  
  Now there's one direct bus!

  IMO,as all present Bishan buses are AMDEP ctrl, probably will be AMDEP Full controlled as there are lotsa spare buses:

For ARBP, there's only SBS1930K, SBS1927X & SBS2593T[feeders from Bukit Merah Int] left. However, there are MKIIIs for consideration SBS818J, SBS817L, SBS828E, SBS829C or MKIIs... but i still tink Sv 58 AMDEP ctrl...

  There's duplication of this route with svc 100 from beach road to alexandra rd. do u'll think the passenger load will be affected on any of the buses?
