i dun like the old mk... well the ground clearance is so high... whenever i alight... i feel the bus is so far from the ground.

from bt merah to bishan is 29 fare stages

TCS was renamed Mediacorp but the guides still out it as TCS for years after the renaming..

Thought the fare stages are going by distances rather than bus stops? If I can remember correctly, many many years back, SBST198 has the same problem both directions have different number of fare stages. It was due to the Buona Vista Flyover that introduces a fair bit of distances in direction towards Jurong. And to resolve that, SBST resorted to introduce additional fair stages (for busstops opp NUH and AR Industrial) in direction toward Bukit Merah.
Let's hope SMRT61 would not be introducing additional fare stages due to opening of Queensway underpass. -
there should be the same number of fare stages for both directions. like bus 3,14,21 etc both directions not same number of fare stages. wat 2 do?

The route from Bishan to Bt Merah seems to be a bit longer than in the opposite direction. Hint: Look at the alignments of Rochor Rd and Ophir Rd, and the route of service 57 (both directions) between Rochor Rd/Ophir Rd and Beach Rd. -

At Bt Merah interchange, I board SBS 3797 R on service 57 yesterday (12 Sep) and today (13 Sep) and alighted along Alexandra Rd opposite Alexandra Point/outside SAJC. The correct fare stage for this stop is 5.0, but both the exit readers show the wrong fare stage 5.5.
I believe I had been overcharged before. Today I managed to scan my card before the fare stage changed from 5.0 to 5.5, to pay the correct fare of 64 cents instead of the wrong fare 85 cents. The exit readers, before reaching the SAJC stop, enabled and show fare stage 5.0, but after a few seconds, turn back into disabled mode, then enabled and show fare stage 5.5 which is for the next stop (opposite NOL Building).
I don't know if all service 57 buses have such problem or is it just this bus alone. -
