I guess the reason is that the speed driven by SBST drivers is damn slow.Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:I be very glad if SMRT takes over servce 39 !

i think they feel alright. coz it's fast!Originally posted by 105090:then i wonder how people feels when they stand on the doorsteps of sv858 from yishun to Changi Airport. (luckily SMRt BC drives fast)
SBS drivers might be thinking of other things and sometimes they are in old age.Originally posted by phillipC:One and only bad thing about the SBS is drivers are damn slow.
and bad thing about SMRT is the frequency.

Scania OAC detoriates its speed by age. (Sorry if I spelt the word wrongly.)Originally posted by gorby107:Today saw a Scania OAC on Sv 39 struggling on TPE
The 965 mercedes bus zooms past very fast
Seems more people taking Sv 39 now.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:Scania OAC detoriates its speed by age. (Sorry if I spelt the word wrongly.)
You mean the bus becomes slower as it gets older?Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:Scania OAC detoriates its speed by age. (Sorry if I spelt the word wrongly.)
It might be slower due to friction of the engine.Originally posted by kc_leung:You mean the bus becomes slower as it gets older?![]()
Service 860 (Sengkang to Hougang St 21) existed from 12 June 1998 to 14 Dec 1998. Service 865 (Sengkang to WTC) existed from 15 Dec 1998 to 05 Dec 1999. How to merge them?Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:But PTC Annual Report 1998/99, shows that Svc 865 merged with Svc 860? It can't that be, I think you might be right that 865 was re-numbered from 860.![]()

Was Svc 860 routes is the same as SBST Svc 119?Originally posted by tranquilice:Service 860 (Sengkang to Hougang St 21) existed from 12 June 1998 to 14 Dec 1998. Service 865 (Sengkang to WTC) existed from 15 Dec 1998 to 05 Dec 1999. How to merge them?
The fact is, on 15 Dec 1998, service 860 was re-numbered service 865 and extended to WTC, skipping Hougang St 21.
Close enough. I consider the present Svc 119 as 860 back from the dead.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:Was Svc 860 routes is the same as SBST Svc 119?
Yes, same route between Sengkang East Way and Hougang St 21. Between Sengkang terminal and Sengkang East Way, service 860 plied different route as Sengkang terminal was a roadside terminal on one side of Compassvale Rd. On the return trip from Hougang St 21, service 860 plied Punggol Rd and Compassvale Dr towards Sengkang terminal.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:Was Svc 860 routes is the same as SBST Svc 119?
Take note that back then, 190 was the only service for CCk and BP to the CBD area. Now, there is 700 and another slight helper is the 960.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:SBS drivers might be thinking of other things and sometimes they are in old age.
SMRT frequency too long, especially Woodlands feeder svc and Svc 190.
I noticed SMRT 190 has a bad frequency compared to Svc 190 in SBS time.
I'm not a 190 regular rider. There is also Svc 952 from Marsiling – Marina Centre, extended to WDL REG INT in 1996, was it the same as Svc 960?Originally posted by muziq bus:Take note that back then, 190 was the only service for CCk and BP to the CBD area. 700 and 190 runs an almost parallel route and aids 190. 700 even has bendies to help ease the congestion. Are you a regular 190 rider?
From Orchard Rd, BP residents have 2 choices now.
Oh well, if you are a regular, you might notice that on some occasions, the frequency is really very long but sometimes, it comes as a double or triple or a quad...but quad is rarely...Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:I'm not a 190 regular rider. Extend 190 to HarbourFront or change it to loop service?Originally posted by sinicker:traffic congestion and parking at NBR terminal. sometimes, when there isnt any space and a 190 comes frm CCK, the next one just has to go out early to allow that 190 to park.
190 passenger volume for the upper part of Chinatown to NBR stretch is not that high...no pointOriginally posted by SBS9889U:Extend 190 to HarbourFront or change it to loop service?
yeap! main areas are from CCK/ BP to Orchard. Fewer people goes to Chinatown area than OrchardOriginally posted by muziq bus:190 passenger volume for the upper part of Chinatown to NBR stretch is not that high...no point
From BPJ to Chinatown, there is 970. From CCK, there is always MRT.Originally posted by 105090:yeap! main areas are from CCK/ BP to Orchard. Fewer people goes to Chinatown area than Orchard
