Yesterday 30/12/2005 read the zao bao.
one resident in Jurong east area, complain about poor frequency of SMRT 171 during 0645hrs to 0720 hrs in Bt Panjang area towards Yishun via sembawang, only got 1 bus during that period. and suggest having a direct bus connection from Jurong east to Sembawang via Bt Panjang.

The demand for that period was justifiable for having one bus, more than 30min frequency during the peak hour, can imagine the waiting one need to endure if miss the bus!
As for the direct bus service, as usual asking people to take MRT.
SMRT just dunt see the convenience and cost saving to commuters, of having a direct bus service! -

The demand for that period was justifiable for having one bus, more than 30min frequency during the peak hour, can imagine the waiting one need to endure if miss the bus!
As for the direct bus service, as usual asking people to take MRT.
SMRT just dunt see the convenience and cost saving to commuters, of having a direct bus service!
I doubt you have. I wouldn't say that the demand is high and although 30 mins sounds unreasonable....i have to say even SBST encounters some of this problem.....
from farrer rd to orchard, had to wait 30 mins for 174...... -
the scheduled interval for 174 is about 13-17mins interval. So if you happen to encounter a breakdown, or even the one in front 3mins ahead of schedule & the one behind 10mins behind schedule, that'll total up to about 30mins. The same goes for the other direction, because of the Orchard Rd jam, the BCs can be sometimes up to 15mins late upon reaching NBR Ter, even if he leaves immediately for the return trip, he'll still be about 5 mins late (usual breaks for 174 at NBR Ter is about 10mins, so 15-10=5 ), encounter another jam of both human & vehicular traffic at around Somerset & Orchard area, and he'll be 15-20mins late by the time he reaches Farrer Rd.Originally posted by muziq bus:from farrer rd to orchard, had to wait 30 mins for 174......

Do you people seriously think SMRT cares about the MRTs and Buses? What profit are they making from it? Not much. Especially the MRT the people who take them are almost the same every single day, so profit remains quite stagnant(only changes a bit) unless they raise fare. As for buses, profits getting lower due to their lack of initiatives towards customers.
So what do they really care? TAXIS. In recent years, they have been buying taxis and promoting them a lot. Do u see ads about buses or mrts in their stations? No. They only advertise their taxis. Such as the recent "Good service" ads. Truthfully speaking, i am sick of smrt in choa chu kang, woodlands, sembawang, yishun, btp & btb. They are just torturing us commuters with long frequencies and spoiled buses.
Just the other day, i had to ride a Habit with non-working air con on 188 from CCK. basically, it was a non-air con trip. They should have stopped that bus from service especially because of the fact the bus was from an interchange. but what can we do? all we can do is just complain and whine but it is all useless. they don't change...tibs was better of without smrt and smrt was better off as a government-run company. -
