State of CT/ Citybuzz Buses

Social responsibility or just poor business sense?
I've come to notice that most of these buses are empty and probably losing money. The Citybuzz buses are double decker, and one would be lucky to see an ang-moh, much less a local, sitting on the upper deck. The drivers also seem to be in a hurry, even taking the middle lane in Orchard Road. Looking at the relative success of the Hippo buses, Citybuzz just pales in comparison.
Chinatown buses, though quick and direct, are probably still losing money, as they reduced the frequency of the buses recently.
Perhaps the SBS wants to improve its image following its highly unpopular price hikes in 2003, but some of its new services just signals poor planning and business sense. The citybuzz buses probably never expected much traffic in the first place, but why implement them when there are so many modes of transport to get arnd the city. (esp your two feet)? More worryingly, ridiculous services like the Labrador Park bus were implemented when walking into the park is probably quicker and more aesthetically pleasing than waiting at the bus stop.
The SBS has indeed lived up to its promise that higher fares bring about a greater variety and a higher standard of service. Yet, it needs to seriously consider how it should go about doing so, to bring maximum benefit to botht the people and the company. -

Yes, every time I see a CTD bus, it will always be empty or only a few people. Worse is the Citybus, a few or no people on board, and it uses new DD buses - VSO (Volvo B10TL)

Remember sitting on the Citybuzz Sv C1 for bus ride and sit for the whole journey. Only five people took only and only take for a few bus stop which I know other bus service can travel to there not only citybuzz. Maybe they take as it is empty and so they can enjoy the spacious space and the air con too. I suggest that C1,C2 and C3 can merged into one service rather by spilting it.

CityBuzz is a joke. Obviously an attempt to try and compete with SIA Hop-On and HippoTours but ends up a pathetic attempt. HippoTours has been doing quite well lately, their weekend tours are quite popular.

The CT and Citybuzz reflect that SBST is resource-rich. Do you wish to see those buses sitting idly in bus parks?
Do you think smrt can afford such services? smrt probably has many new routes in mind but no empty buses!
You should compliment sbst and humiliate smrt instead. -

what pissed me off is that the B10TL on my fav Sv 168 were gone, what's left on Sv 168 is now Leyland olumpian -
How about SBST selling or renting those extra buses to SMRT???

smrt is so 'cost-conscious' to the extend that they display no ndp banners, flags in any of their mrt stations (seen none on 4 aug in redhill, commonwealth stations). did sbst display any of those national days banners in nel stations? -

you should urge smrt to ply these special initiatives instead! cck to chinatown, woodland to chinatown, bp to chinatown...., many senior citizens prefer buses over trains.

you should applaud sbst for their initiatives! -
CityBuzz are meant for targetted advertisement purposes. the tourist part actually not too important. it is to give advertisement more exposure in the city.
Chinatown Direct, i agree it's not really useful for a particular reason beyond CNY. Maybe some ppl will go, maybe it's a courtesy extended to senior citizens, tat's why it's still around. -

Just off topic, 190 was better under SBS, same goes to other taken over CCK/ BBT svs..
Anyway, I dun really think CityBuzz can survive esp on other passenger's anger -

There are 10 CityBuzz VSOs all of which do xover during weekdays. The CT Direct buses all do xover with 268 (CT8 ), 225, 228, 229 (CT18 ), and 74 (CT28 ) in the morning and evening (for the case of CT18 ). -

CT8 buses does 268 in the AM peak and PM peak, but the buses used has changed.. all are OACs now.. today just took SBS334M (57) on CT8!!
anyway, u cant say CT buses has no business.
only the 3rd trip of saturday (1125 hours) at AMK ave 10, the bus is full. on the return trip at 3pm++, ppl cheong to get up CT18.. cant say much for CT28 tho.. apparently, CT8 freq is shifted. it does 1 less trip per day now..
