Well, put it this way, SBS Transit will try to put a fleet of full air con buses on a service when they could of course. However, not all services warrant the use of Air Con buses maybe due to low demand; and not all pax also want to take air-con buses.
The thing is some people complain of lack of new services; lousy frequency; no air-con buses. It's difficult to satisfy the demands of everyone. Remember SBS Transit has limited resources too. So yeah...but I think SBS Transit is doing their best to have a near 100% air-con fleet.
And one thing, try not to compare SBS Transit with SMRT Buses. Such comparison won't get anywhere. the frequency bout sv57 is quite horrible today.. at 1115 hrs, i was at Bishan, and i looked at the Bus Departure Moniter. it says 57 departs at 1137.. means 27 minutes! (i actually saw a 57 bus left at 1110). and its advetised freq is 15-17mins
luckily theres alternative services.. -
For a long time, travelling to and fro between Bouna Vista and East Coast has never been easy. Finally the bus service 48 appears, indeed it shorten down the travelling time, but hell the waiting time is long. I have never want to complain but it has been bothering me too long.
For couple of occassion, after my work, I would wait for Bus 48 at Marine Parade Central between 6.45 to 7.15pm, but I have to wait for more than 35mins for the bus to arrive.
Imagine if I waited the bus 48 at 7.15pm, it came at 7.50pm, that is too long a waiting time, cos buses such as 196 and 36 came and go for at least 3 times, the inconvienent is 196 takes a bit of travelling time, max at least 10mins to reach destination and 36 would require me to change bus or MRT, but these two buses requires higher fare.
My normal travelling and waiting time before 48 is around average 58 mins now because of 48 it goes up to 88mins and it suppose to be a shorter distance.
What I do not understand is the start point is somewhere at east coast and it takes so long for them to schedule the departure time for this bus 48.
Of course, one more thing is that with the new fare, the frequency of me taking this bus has a narrow seating space, which is I dun understand and I am not tall at 1.68m but my knee cap has to be adjusted to suit the length between the seat (of course, I only seat at the back rows of the bus).
I just want to complain, nothing else!!! -

... wad u mean by with the new fare, the frequency of u taking this bus has a narrow seating space.......??? anyway alot of buses had no enough leh room to stretch legs, im onli 153 and i oreadi had problems streching legs on sum buses, the onli place with the most stretching space is the back row..... -

In fact, I think every service surely have delays for some reasons or another. Delays could be caused by bus break down or traffic jams. Look at service 27, it's a popular service but SBST put so many buses on svc 27. It's pretty common to see 3 27's buses at one time, I wished SBST can do the same for other services like 518 (Peak hours), 36 ...etc .

Service 358 from pasir ris interchange to Elias road. Though the route is quite short, missing 1 bus during peak hours, the waiting time can be as long as 20 mins! Written som many times to SBS, but all turn to deaf ears!

The only way SBST will listen if you report it to the press. One Zaobao reader has suggested to extend 180 from Bt panjang to Potong Pasir and Sengkang area.
I doubt SMRT will ever seriously consider this suggestion!
Ask you take the train again, waste time and $$$$

frequency getting worse for sv159.. hitting more than 20mins average (guide says 10-13mins, website is 13-16mins) and weather conditions, and loads are good.

There are lots of services with only 1 or 2 transfers he can take (eg 985 from Teck Whye to within walking distance of Potong Pasir & Toa Payoh, and 187/963
965 to Sengkang). Taking the train is not necessarily faster & cheaper than taking the bus. -
Yesterday, 4/9/2005 , I went to Toa Payoh INT's control office to ask for the timings for 1688K.The aunty there says that she cannot check the timing because 163 did not stop at Toa Payoh INT. I know that 163 only stop at Toa Payoh to rest for 3 - 5 mins then go again but how come she said only Sengkang INT can check the timing and if Toa Payoh INT dont have the timing..how come the TV can display the next bus timing?Can you experts give some assistance?
