You are contradicting yourself... First post say that you alway saw VO2x DD on SV 151. Later post say that DD on SV151 are not possible.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:DDs on 151 are not possible as Svc 151 routes had narrow roads that DDs can't pass through.
I only know one of the flash floods that happened in 1979, especially Old Tampines Rd. I believe Ama Keng Village also flooded.Originally posted by SBS1908B:Who wants to bet Ole Tampines Rd will flood again? Never mind.......when I see mud clinging to the sides of a 072 VSO, I will know.
There never was a VO2X DD on 151. But there was once when SBS Transit wanted to introduce Superbuses on 151.Originally posted by lemon1974:You are contradicting yourself... First post say that you alway saw VO2x DD on SV 151. Later post say that DD on SV151 are not possible.
I have never see any VO2x DD on SV151 since it was introduced..
As far as I know, at Sims Ave, there was no diversions for buses as the floods only lasted about 2 hours. At one point, TP diverted traffic away, but it seems vehicles like buses and lorries can brave through the waters easily.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:A sudden heavy downpour cause flash floods on stretch of Sims Ave, same as Braddell Rd. Any flood diversion plans by SBS Transit?

Seems like these are no longer needed because of our vastly improved drainage system. (Thanks ENV and NEA!)Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:If you check any one of the Bus Guides 1977, 1979-80, 1980-81 & 1982, there is a flood diversion plans of the affected areas. 25 areas were affected by floods (excluding Sims Ave).
Some svc were ceased to operate in case of severe flooding.
Bt Panjang Circus, YCK 14km and Telok Blangah Rd (near CIROS THEATRE) were flood-prone areas.Originally posted by iveco:I remember parts of Bukit Timah Road were prone to flooding in the past.
It was.. until they put in that huge monsoon drain.. Other places too.. nowadays if there's any flood at all, it's because the rain came in too quickly and the drains backed up until after a few hours.Originally posted by iveco:I remember parts of Bukit Timah Road were prone to flooding in the past.
Back then, Serangoon monsoon drains were overflowed due to heavy downpour in 2004.Originally posted by PhyrePhox:It was.. until they put in that huge monsoon drain.. Hmm... no wonder i see lots of old-looking measuring instruments beside the drain at Dunearn Rd. It looks like a black ruler... was it an old rain guage?Originally posted by iveco:I remember parts of Bukit Timah Road were prone to flooding in the past.
I remember a downpour in 1992, the drain at Tiong Bahru Park (beside Henderson Road) almost overflowed... you couldn't see the sides of the drain. Just a large stream of muddy water.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:Back then, Serangoon monsoon drains were overflowed due to heavy downpour in 2004.
Sounds like the TMO of olden days...Originally posted by 105090:board the bus and the conductor will come and collect the fares..
In Thailand & Malaysia, they use TMO svcs.Originally posted by kc_leung:Sounds like the TMO of olden days...![]()
major cities like JB and Penang are fast moving into the OMO era, but KL is still having TMOOriginally posted by Apex-LW'21:In Thailand & Malaysia, they use TMO svcs.![]()
I think in KL, they're more for those older bus company. The more up-to-date RapidKL (formerly Intrakota and Cityliner) and Metrobus is all OMO now. Some of the companies are adopting the Touch 'n' Go system.Originally posted by 105090:major cities like JB and Penang are fast moving into the OMO era, but KL is still having TMO
as for Bangkok, they have the Sky Train and Subway as additional transportation options these years![]()
Handal Indah are now OMO, some Maju & Transit Link svc still TMO.Originally posted by PhyrePhox:I think in KL, they're more for those older bus company. Anyway.. I didn't get the chance to take the Sky Train the only time I was in Bangkok. Hope to do that if I ever go there again. With the jams and crawls in Bangkok, they're definitely the best option if compared to the buses and taxis (and the Money Ripoff Tuk-tuks!).
i do wonder how the conductors know who had just boarded the bus when the bus has many passengersOriginally posted by PhyrePhox:I think in KL, they're more for those older bus company.
