Sembawang Bus Interchange to start operations in November

i got a copy of june news @ canberra magazine.on the first page,it says that ,"
residents will be happy to know that 5 bus routes serving sembawang new town will be revamped and one new bus route started as the bridge across the Sembawang River was completed in Aug 2004 and the new bus interchange next to the sun plaza should be completed by September 2005."

167, 856, 859, 962, 980, 981, NR2
I think 981 and NR2 are the only ones not affected. Both 981 and NR2 might be starting from Sembawang Int:
981: Sembawang Int - Senoko Ind Est.
NR2: Sembawang Int - Marina Centre (Loop)
As for the other 5, at most is amendment of routes within Sembawang Town, or at most merger with other services.
As for the new service, hope it won't be a stupid one. -

if 2005, which mean is this month. How they are going to introduce new route since they have shortage of buses.
Some other services may be affected, maybe more UD buses will be seen on the roads! -

ok i didn read thru.. maybe they could have a loop? pass by sembawang interchange n go on towards sembawang park n back to sembawang interchange?

859 & 962 seem more like inter-town routes (in the mould of 38, 60, 83 or 101) to me. To me, the 6 former Intratown routes run by SMRT (formerly Tibs) are as good as SBST's Townlinks. In fact, 811, 812, 911 & 912 were among the pilot batch of Townlink routes. It could be a move to prevent misunderstandings on "Intratown" (N'hood A to B) and "Intertown" (Town A to B).
If I'm not wrong SBS Transit uses "Intratown" for services like 3 and 38, for example.
Also, 358 had it's "Townlink" words removed from desto. Actually now all SMRT "Intratown" and SBST "Townlink" services can be treated as feeder due to their flat fare status and the fare is the lowest of the band (90 cents). After all, they still serve the same town, except different neighbourhoods.
"Intratown" for trunk services plying between 2 town definitely gives more meaning to this term. -

Hope that they don't introduce redundant services that goes to the West or South since the MRT is a better and more direct choice. -
