SBST might want to take advantage of the new link and consider implementing a new route that linkup ang mo kio, yio chu kang road, bradell road, novena, farrer, queensway, aye (nus), aye, jurong town hall (IBP), jurong east. It will probably suck up many existing smrt train commuters.
The Extension of Queensway to the AYE and the Queensway Underpass will be opened to traffic on 13 August 2005 at 2.00pm. Motorists will be able to enjoy uninterrupted traffic flow along Queensway and get onto the AYE directly, without having to stop at the signalised junctions at Queensway, Commonwealth Avenue, Jalan Bukit Merah and Alexandra Road.
How is sMRT61 affected (from c'wealth drive to queensway)? Can't see any press release in smrt website. If making a u turn at the junction, will it result in increase in fare stages?
From 13 August 2005, motorists coming from Commonwealth Drive will not be allowed to turn right into Queensway. They are advised to turn left and make a U-turn at the junction of Queensway/Commonwealth Avenue.
Hello, I am just suggesting a new route for sbst to consider.Originally posted by Donavan:Nice one man. Where do you get the info from (laughing quietly as JE gets a new svc.)
It reminds me of the time 136 was amended due to the Upp S'goon viaduct turning the junction with YCK Rd into a left turn only one. Where will 61 u-turn? Near the Police Task Force compound?Originally posted by iamgoondu:How is sMRT61 affected (from c'wealth drive to queensway)? Can't see any press release in smrt website. Did you check if there's any notices at bus stops along service 61 route?Originally posted by iamgoondu:How is sMRT61 affected (from c'wealth drive to queensway)? Can't see any press release in smrt website. If making a u turn at the junction, will it result in increase in fare stages?
The notice only informs of a new additional stop opposite blesssed sacrement church, and no other details. No mention on how it implements the turn from cwealth close to queensway, and any additional bus stages.Originally posted by tranquilice:Did you check if there's any notices at bus stops along service 61 route?

Sorry about that, no intention to misspell the name.Originally posted by Zilchster:It's BLESSED SACRAMENT...
Pls mind you spelling ok. It's very offensive that you spelt the church name wrongly, especially that of this particular church.
there were notices at Bukit Batok Interchange at 61 berth....Originally posted by tranquilice:Did you check if there's any notices at bus stops along service 61 route?
Where's the exact location of this new U-turn?Originally posted by muziq bus:It seems that they are also makin a new u-turn for 61 and other vehicles from C'wealth Drive to turn to Queensway in the direction of Q'way Shopping Centre.....
I think its new ah...but not sure whether its been there before.....it was blocked for traffic use....after the C'wealth junction... before the C'wealth junctionOriginally posted by tranquilice:Where's the exact location of this new U-turn?

The mentioned U-turn was already there before the underpass was built. Not sure whether it still exists as I haven't been passing by there recently.Originally posted by muziq bus:oops...sorry...ya its after C'wealth Dr junction...before C'Wealth Ave junction....but i went to look at the u-turn there again and realise the u-turn road dun look all that new....maybe its not new after all... correct me if i'm wrong(again)
SMRT now really call @ the busstop opposite Blessed Sacrament Church, as indicated in the notice posted. Would it adjust the fare stages as well? Hope not. The extra distances may simply add 1-1.5 fare stages between.Originally posted by iveco:If 61 really calls @ QUeensway opposite Blessed Sacrament Church these days, neither the SMRT Buses or TransitLink E-guides have been updated to reflect the change.
SMRT's online guide has been updated but not TransitLink.Originally posted by iamgoondu:SMRT now really call @ the busstop opposite Blessed Sacrament Church, as indicated in the notice posted. You can make a u-turn at the queensway underpass. Moreover you can choose to exit at the next exit after portsdown.Originally posted by No_10_Tomas_Rosicky:The new link "Portsdown Ave" connects AYE and Normanton Park to Queensway.
If you make an exit from Tuas-bound AYE to Portsdown Ave, heading towards Queensway, you can only access to the direction of Queensway towards C'wealth Ave but not the direction of Queensway towards Alexandra/Jln Bt Merah, strange thing
Is there a No-Right-Turn from Portsdown Ave into Queensway (towards Jln Bt Merah)?Originally posted by No_10_Tomas_Rosicky:If you make an exit from Tuas-bound AYE to Portsdown Ave, heading towards Queensway, you can only access to the direction of Queensway towards C'wealth Ave but not the direction of Queensway towards Alexandra/Jln Bt Merah, strange thing
