2 YANG YUN XIN BUS SERVICE $637,760.00
3 LOH GIM CHONG TRANSPORT $642,000.00
4 COMFORT BUS PTE LTD $779,200.00 Total Amount for 24 months contract (including wholly pasted advertisement on bus)
5 SMRT BUSES LTD $813,792.00 Pls refer to 4 attached documents. Pls note that our price is higher due to our buses are licensed to carry standing passengers. (maximum capacity = 75 passengers) This means one bus is equal to 2 buses.
SMRT Buses had bidded for 2-Year Term Contract for Provision of Feeder Bus Service to Biopolis, SMRT Buses got excess buses to provide such service meh?
Is it more lucrative to provide such feeder service then public bus service? Why SMRT Buses are different from the rest (our buses are licensed to carry standing passengers[)? Is it fair to other private bus operator? Why won't SMRT seek to improve bus services in Bukit Panjang?[/b]

Tekong shuttles operate during AM and PM peak hours as well. That is how HQ Infantry & BMTC perm staff get to work if they don't drive. I've ever booked in to BMTC on a weekday morning and the bus is sure as hell packed like sardines because many people are trying to catch the fast craft at that leaves at that particular time.Originally posted by ^tamago^:they have buses reserved for chartered services only, jus like Tekong shuttles. in fact, they could let the same batch of buses do tekong on weekends, then biopolis on weekdays. jus hope they dun really throw in those Lances.
They got Nissans from SSB also.Have you seen those current Biopolis buses, how can you compare those buses with SSB buses?

Well, it dependsOriginally posted by phillipC:what is all these biddings about?
someone pls enlighten me.
does it mean the highest bid get the tender? No reason for SBST to lose to SMRT. Some of the forumnists are quite right, SMRT should improve its own area of ops first!!!
The lowest bid would probably get the tender instead. JTC would fork out that amount to the successful bidder. And the successful bidder would provide a 2-years term of shuttle service for biopolis staff between Biopolis and BV MRT/HV.Originally posted by phillipC:what is all these biddings about?

Anyway... As to the standing, SMRT is like very smart...Originally posted by iamgoondu:The lowest bid would probably get the tender instead. JTC would fork out that amount to the successful bidder. Even SBS deployed buses owned by subsidiary SBSL for Turf City and Compass Point shuttle, not those from its main fleet. But the SBSL BCs wore same uniforms, though. The Tekong Lances' SCs wear white shirt and dark pants (similar to Tibs Taxis) and not the floral ones if I'm not mistaken.Originally posted by sbst275:If SMRT gives out the TIB rego which they are not supposed to, I dun see the meaning of giving SMRT the contract
But not SBS rego right?Originally posted by iveco:Even SBS deployed buses owned by subsidiary SBSL for Turf City and Compass Point shuttle, not those from its main fleet. Exactly my sentiments. The Tekong Lances have to be there during peak hours for BMTC perm staff. I doubt SMRT has any more buses left other than those in regular service. If they do win the contract, it will be biting off more than they can chew.Originally posted by sbst275:But not SBS rego right?
Anyway... I think SMRT is overstretching its resources, want to take everything when everything all shortage
Neither can they sent out TIB rego out for contract svs during peak hrsOriginally posted by iveco:Exactly my sentiments. The Tekong Lances have to be there during peak hours for BMTC perm staff. they did send TIB and CSS regos during Sun eveningOriginally posted by sbst275:Neither can they sent out TIB rego out for contract svs during peak hrs
Well you'll never know right,Anyway it's just aguess so no need to get so tenseOriginally posted by iamgoondu:Hope SMRT would first ensure those territories under her care are well taken care of prior tendering for contract for provision of feeder bus services for private routes.
Hope SMRT won't sqeeze out any buses from its current fleet it is awarded the tender.

Many working in Biopolis are Astar scholars, exectutives, graduates, expatriates, not factory workers, not sure if their boss would want them to STAND in crampy buses.
What's a million scholarship to $800 thousands? Or rather $800 thousands is a little fraction to the $500million spent on our biopolis.
