Bishan Bus Drivers

I have noticed that in Bishan Interchange, all the drivers who reverse the buses honk and honk and honk like a funfair. I feel that it is very irritating. It happens even with the 57 and 58 drivers. Did any of u notice it?

It is quite bad at PM Peak when all the buses all arrive at the interchange.

For safety reason...cos Bishan Int has some pillars blocking both the reversing driver's & the turning driver's views.

i guess every Interchange is like this. Especially wen theres another bus coming from the back during reversing

If you were a driver in the SAF, I am sure you have been instructed to honk when you reverse. Maybe that is because SAF vehicles have no reverse chimes.

One more thing is to warn some jaywalkers(Especially Ahpeks & Ahsohs)if they are walking behind the bus.

Bishan Int very little people walk in bus bay, except for the crossing from the ALIGHTING BERTHS to the boarding berths of 53.56 and 58.

i also noticed it, and it had worsen since the 1st day of sv57 58, ie 31st July..
referring to what a forumner had said in another post, is it safe to conclude bishan BC are mostly Singaporeans?

Reason behind was like what some of the forum members here have said.. By sounding the horn, This will then give the drivers driving towards the parking bay to have ample warnings so that an accident wont happened inside the interchange.. For of the Interchange that have this practise is Tampines Interchange, Hougang Int (Peak Hrs), Serangoon Int.. Pls note that in Tam and Serangoon, it only happens to Single berths...

well i oso remember tat sum time ago there was a paper sticking on the boarding berth of 8/23/81 tat pls dub be alarmed to hear a double horn as BC are instuctored to horn b4 reversing, dun tink the paper still there..... -

The driver who is reversing, is usually unable to see if there's a bus coming up behind him. It's a safety precaution to prevent accidents. -

You'll never know what's on those peoples mind especially the elderly,I've encountered once while reversing @ Serangoon Interchange on Sv 158 when this Ah pek joyfully walk behind my bus and i've to make a sudden stop.When i point to him the No Jaywalking sign he just said,Fine lah,You think i'm scared is it?Originally posted by tranquilice:Jaywalking in bus parks is an offence, no? talking bout Srrangoon interchange, there was once a auntie who cross the alighting berth (in front of the office) onto the bus park, intending to go towards the CC (cut across the field and carpark). then the pfficer used the PA and said xiao jie! xian xin yi dian.. bu yao luan luan guo mal lu.. hern wei sian de hor!
in the end she malu when found she is trapped! -
Those who are not class 4 drivers, you don't know wat is so call 'blind spot' de.

I remember someone was hit by a bus and killed at BNL Int some years back.
Also, BDK Int entrance also quite accident prone at one time. Usually involve cyclists. -
Not only bus drivers. I think that is one of their regulations. But for SAF, I know that all vehicle have to horn when they are reversing. This is to ensure that there is no one behind the vehicle and other vehicles know that they are going tor reverse.

- sv30 & sv172 hit each other when both are reversing at the same time with one turning right & the other turning left. (Boon Lay Int)
- sv160 hit a sv66 passing behind it while reversing out of the berth. (Jurong East Int)
