This is the photos of my taking. I followed their step by step constructions from grass to the cement... to the polls are up... shelters are built, and LTA engineering discussing wit the SMRT guys?? Maybe they are discussing about where the bus should park or whatever etc2... they even measured of how the bus should park using these bendy bus...
I have the video footage of that single bus test around the 'playground'... haha.. i tell ya.. it's intresting..
They even work at night, day and night, rain or shine.. works goes on for this guys!.. it's wonderfull superfast and neat working by them...

Nice pics , thanks for sharing with us . I always have this impression they are building an air-conditioned bus interchange for Sembawang , guess I am wrong.

Yeap, there's no aircon... juz a shelter normal ones. At first i thought that sembawang's interchange has a futuristic looks, but after the shelters has been built, and the layout has been cleared it seems like a normal bus interchange.. hehe..Originally posted by Airbus330Captain:Nice pics , thanks for sharing with us . nowadays, temporary interchanges looks just like permannt interchanges. as what ferrariman says, if its a permanent one, it is. look at Bt Panjang Int, Hougang Central Int. their structures and designs are all the same style.. (like a typical C shape with the passenger area surrounding the bus park area). Sengkang Int (temp), AMK int (temp), and even PGL int (temp) can easily pass off as permanent interchanges..
notice that new interchanges does not have stand-alone berths.. all are saw-tooth. -
But the future AMK interchange is currently being built, isn't it? Also I read on another thread that BPJ Interchange will be rebuilt when BTL comes up. Yes, it is. Ang Mo Kio Interchange is currently building it now. If go to AMK town central, you can see a big poaster showing the building. There will also be a shopping centre next to the aircon Interchange, just like Toa Payoh. Bukit Panjang Interchange is a temporary one. Announce somewhere in 1999, when it is opened, says that Bukit Panjang Interchange will be a temporary one, until the Bukit Timah Line is opened. Currently, there are 3 Interchange / Terminal that are temporary
--> Punggol Temporary Interchange
(Will build new one when the town centre is built)
--> Bukit Panjang Interchange
(New one will be build after the BTL is opened)
--> Ang Mo Kio Temporary Interchange
(Has started bulding the new one, sited next to a future shopping centre.) -

Frankly speaking, the construction isn't fast at all. comparing the time taken to build your HDB flat, which took around 2 yrs i think, and it has taken 1 yr to build a single-level bus interchange, with no piling needed.
but i muz say, the workers really work hard, even on weekends n late at nite. e slow construction can only be because they hire few workers... -

Soon after, the word "Temporary" was taken off all the boards. So, i guess, it's going to be around for a long time until further developments in this area take place. So, it's not a temporary interchange, yet it's not going to be around for decades.
According to URA's Master Plan 2003, S'wang is supposed to have an integrated bus interchange with the MRT station. This should be in the distant future.
And I read that in the distant future, there will be a new MRT line [North Shore line] serving the North, NorthEast & East. We can already see the demand building up, judging from the many buses between these areas: 39, 858, 969, 965, 161, 168.
Some said this MRT will start from S'wang, thru' Simpang [between Yishun & S'wang] towards the East, yet some say it'll start from Woodlands. If S'wang MRT turns into an MRT interchange, then I think the current bus interchange will give way to a new bus interchange to be built right beside the current S'wang MRT, with the new North-Shore MRT station below it.
In any case, the proposed MRT line may even start from the yet-to-be-built MRT station [NS 12]between S'wang [NS 11] & Yishun [NS 13]. -
I took these photos on 28 Sep 05. The bus parking lots are drawn and 'sembawang bus interchange' sign were built.
I counted the number of parking lots and Sembawang Bus Interchange have 16 parking lots

the 1st 7 are SDs rite... and the rest are bendy parks -

Maybe they could built an Air con int in the future if the future North Shore Line passes by Sembawang?
