Opening of Bishan MRT Station and Integrated bus services
Bishan Services Then: 56, 57, 58 and 59
Originally Bishan Interchange had service 56, 57, 58, 59.
Service 56 plays between Bishan and Toa Payoh (Loop),
Service 57 was like the present-day service 410 except it looped at Sector a Sin Ming.
Service 58 plays between Bishan and Marina Center except it went by Bendemeer, Lavender and Victoria Street.
Service 59 plays between Bishan and Jalan Kayu.
In late 80's or early '90s, service 58 and 56 were integrated to form service 56 playing between Bishan and Marina Center, with the original service 56 route intact, and service 58 route was withdrawn.
Service 57 was converted into Townlink service 410 when Bishan St 22 from Marymount Rd to Bishan Rd opened in 1992, and had green/white plate service. In 1995, service 410 was downgraded to a feeder service. Service 57 was re-introduced on 31st July 2005 plying between Bishan and Bukit Merah.
Service 59 was cut short to Ang Mo Kio in early 90's. Eventually TIBS took over all the services in Jalan Kayu and service 59 was extended to Sengkang in 1997 and renumbered it as service 866. In July 1999, SBS took over service 866 and it became today's service 86 in 2000, solely operated by Hougang Depot.
Service 55 originally terminated at Ang Mo Kio Terminal but was extended to Bishan via Ang Mo Kio Ave 10 in 1994.
Service 134 was cut short to Bishan from Ang Mo Kio in 1992 due to poor demand. Service 105 was rerouted with service 104 to swap roads, with service 104 serving Bishan MRT and service 105 going by Lor Chuan. In 1993 however, SBS decided to integrate service 104 and service 134 to form today's service 54, which also goes to New Bridge Rd. Service 156 was then introduced to bridge the gap from Seranggon Interchange to Bishan MRT. In 2000, service 156 was extended to Sengkang.

197 was integrated with 41 (BMR-BDK) some time after BNL inerchange opened. Despite the amendment, HGDEP continued to take responsibility for 197 until this present day.
198 was shortened to BMR in Sep/Oct 1992 via Queensway and Jln BMR. It no longer called at QUE MRT. On the same day, 64 was extended to Sims Place and MacPherson terminal was closed down. -

Service 63 (current) was reintroduced in 1993 to operate from Rumah Tinggi terminal and loop at MacPherson estate, when service 62 was shortened from Rumah Tinggi to New Bridge Rd at the same time. Current service 63 had never terminated at Bt Merah interchange.
Service 64 was already looping at Mei Chin Rd before the amendment in 1992. Also, the service was amended to ply Clemenceau Ave, Havelock Rd, Ganges Ave, Lower Delta Rd and Tiong Bahru Rd, instead of Somerset Rd, Grange Rd, Orchard Blvd, Grange Rd and Tanglin Rd (duplicated service 111).
If I'm not wrong, service 73 was amended to Ang Mo Kio via Serangoon North Ave 4, not loop here.
Services 224, 244 and 248 was withdrawn in 1992 or 1993. -
