In late 80's or early '90s, service 58 and 56 were integrated to form service 56 playing between Bishan and Marina Center, with the original service 56 route intact, and service 58 route was withdrawn.
Service 59 was cut short to Ang Mo Kio in early 90's. Eventually TIBS took over all the services in Jalan Kayu and service 59 was extended to Sengkang in 1997 and renumbered it as service 866. In July 1999, SBS took over service 866 and it became today's service 86 in 2000, solely operated by Hougang Depot.
