Any idea why 920 and 921 got the most ugliest and old buses? I know is shortage of buses, but why these 2 feeder services??? and not others services.

As for 921 it maybe because not much people take the service. When I took a ride on service 921 in May this year, I saw that Petir Rd was already extended further down but didn't checked out whether it connects with Dairy Farm Rd.Originally posted by iveco:Has Petir Rd been extended to Dairy Farm area yet? i cycle on the rd most of the time...it's currently very empty

I always wonder why service 966 never ply Bukit Panjang New Town. This is because Bukit Panjang residents cannot get to Eunoes and Marine Parade area. Further more, 966 serve 3 very strategic bus stops
1) Trellis Tower bus stop (at PIE) -- links to Toa Payoh/Balestier
2) Jalan Toa Payoh bus stop just before the Macpherson Road- Serangoon Road junction-- Links to Potong Pasir (bus 142), Boon Keng (bus 31), etc.
3) Jalan Eunoes bus stop (outside Eunoes MRT station)-- Links to Bedok Reservoir, Geylang Road (bus 51) etc. Too many possibilities.
With these 3 bus stops, Woodlands and Bukit Panjang residents can get to transfer effectively. For example, last week, I need to go to MacPherson area. So I board 966 and alight at bus stop (2) as mentioned above. From there, I transfer to bus 90.
However, there are no trunk services that can reach the bus-stop outside police academy (along PIE) that can allow the Bukit Panjang residents to transferif they board service 960,190 and 700. These services all exit at Whitley Road and cannot get to transfer to 966. It sounds silly for them to board bus 187,963 back to Woodlands and then transfer to 966 just to reach Marine Parade/Eunoes.
Maybe 966 should ply along Woodlands Road and then turn into Bukit Panjang Road to serve the residents (similar to 960) before continuing towards Marine Parade via the expressways. -
Pls bear in mind that the journey time is already long enough for the present 966 to do a loop...

966 allows woodlands/marsiling residents to transfer at bus stops in TPY and Jln Eunos to other areas which is very good.
however, to amend it and ply WDL Rd is wayyyy too long.
the next best thing Bukit Panjang residents can do is to take 187/963 to marsiling and cross the road and take 966. CCK residents can take 985 to whitley rd/jln toa payoh and change to the other services. -

Exactly! So if Bukit Panjang residents wants to go to Marine Parade, they have to either take
1) Bus 171 to Dunearn Road and transfer to bus 48
2) Take the LRT, transfer to SMRT and alight at Paya Lebar, followed by transferring to bus 76, 135, etc
3) Ridiculous way: Take the LRT to Choa Chu Kang, transfer to bus 985 then alight at Police Academy and then transfer to 966! Or board bus 187/963 and transfer at Marsiling, then cross the road and transfer to 966!
3) Or simply amend service 966! Fair stages wise, it will be increased by a bit. The reason why I suggest this is because firstly, Bukit Panjang residents cannot reach the eastern part of Singapore. By boarding service 966 and transferring at Eunoes bus stop, the eastern part of Singapore can be easily reached.
Another reason why service 966 should be amended to serve Bukit Panjang is because this service has a very low passenger load during non-peak hours. -

to amend 966 to ply Bukit Panjang like 960, it would add 10.5 fare stages to service 966. this wud mean a total of 47.5 fare stages on each direction. it being a loop service would mean, 95 fare stages. BUT, if you were to do this, the WDL
TPY/WDL Eunos/WDL Marine Parade "fast" connection would be lost. you get what i mean? as in, it wouldnt be feasible to take 966 frm WDL to these areas as it gets longer, winding and in short, time-consuming.
Erwin_Rommel, have you tried taking 966 frm WDL Int to Parkway Parade? personally, i've done it and my legs were like jelly as i got off the bus.
you may want to try and approach SMRT buses abt this. but what i can safely say is it would be good news to Bukit Panjang residents, but thumbs down and jeers from residents of Admiralty/WDL/Marsiling. -

If you check the 2005/2006 Edition of the Mighty Minds Street Directory (on Map 63 & 64), the Petir Rd Extension does not contain 'U/C'. I think you might be checking the past editions of the Mighty Minds Street Directory.
