btw, today's ST mentioned the future development of the new Marina Bay area. They mentioned that ECP will be diverted from it's present course by end 2006 and converted into a normal road called Shears Ave by 2009 -

that was mentioned in the master plan many years ago but i thought the idea was crazy then. now... more used to it. yeah. shares avenue = AYE and ECP split. -
it's a bit weird that LTA wants to convert that whole stretch of ECP into a normal road, unless we are talking about a continous viaduct a la ECP over Keppel Road.
Would this conversion have any major impact on traffic flow in the new CBD area? We know that the new CBD is supposed to be "self-sufficient" but unless we see a large number of people flocking to use the new rail facilities it seems madness to convert the ECP to a normal road given the daily rush hour jams there. -

to facilitate the start of Phase 2 of the construction of Common Services Tunnel (CST), the 1.2-km stretch of ECP at Marina Bay will be diverted beginning from next month. this phase will be completed by or just after mid-2006. the diversion is necessary as the CST is being built under the current ECP. some of the facilities at Marina City Park will also be closed during this period. after that, infrastructure works for the IR will also be carried out at the same area, including a green corridor connecting the IR, Business & Financial Centre (BFC) and Marina City Park.Originally posted by supremebull:interesting...where did you get this information from?

in the future, the current stretch of ECP at Marina Bay will be converted into a linear arterial road named Sheares Avenue, and thus its width will be reduced from 55 metres to 44 metres. Marina Coastal Expressway, a boulevard, will also be constructed, linking Ayer Rajah Expressway and Kepppl Viaduct to the rest of New Downtown. this road will run perpendicular to Shares Avenue.

Did u forget the Kallang Bahru flyover at PIE? The three flyovers are Aljunied West Flyover, Kallang Way Flyover and Kallang Bahru flyover.
