New Service 43 (Punggol - Upp East Coast) from Sun, 16th Oct

A new service 43 will be introduced by hgdep from Sunday, 16th October 2005.
Route details are unknown but it will most likely pass through Sengkang East Drive, Buangkok Drive, Yio Chu Kang Rd, Paya Lebar Rd and Marine Parade Rd.
The service will use a full single-deck fleet.
This information is provided in advance to gain exposure for it, so please do not email or call SBS Transit up and ask for the route. Wait patiently for the press release, which should be out within a few days. -
Wow, that sounds exciting. Punggol is being rapidly opened up.
However, Upper East Coast is being filled up by new services while former Marine parade services continue to loop at Siglap. Seems a bit weird.

wow. cool. frm punggol to upp east coast. hope 2 know the full route soon.
sorry but i thot the chinese quite superstitious wiv the number 4? 4 means 'si' rite? previously, there used to be only svc 40. now, there's 42, 43, 48. less superstitious chinese ppl in SBST planning board? like why there isnt any NR4 in the middle of the night...

hmmm... svc 48 started from upper east coast terminal to buona vista terminal, and now svc 43 from punggol to upper east coast. the terminal gonna have new services starting from 40+ number? just a wondering thought, though i know it won't come true as the terminal is quite small.

I dun tink tis svc is so true man, i call up SBST and they deny it. My uncle who works in BNDEP as a mechanic say he dun noe anyting abt it also. Maybe it is a hoax by tamago to get everyone all excited and laff at us becoz we are all bodoh kidz?

haiz, u tink i bodoh ah! my uncle high up in hierarchy u noe. aiyo! u dun tink ah. After HGDEP take on BNDEP svcs they go from 47 spare bus to ard 20 in off peak. then when running peak hr svc, not so many spare bus. how to find driver and maintain fleet when so few bus are off svc leh?? i dun tink u right lah. where is ur proof of tis svc? u dun noe the routing of 43, so how can? i dun see any notice for recruiting drivers for new svc in any int run by HGDEP? how can ah?Originally posted by ^tamago^:i tell you, hgdep confirm enough buses to launch this service. -

Look, it isn't often I agree with a kid, but I actually think he is correct. After the transfer of 7, 66 and 32, all of which are high frequency routes, HGDEP (who's confirmed spare vehicles in peak hour was actually 45 pre-transfer) would have actually been significantly reduced. Whether the depot wishes to gamble on the mechanical soundness of its fleet and choose to operate another service is up to them, but I would be reluctant to believe that this was the case. And Upp East Coast Terminal is closer to BNDEP, so if it was to run, why wouldn't BNDEP be running it? Unless they shared it? Considering also that there is no press release, I will not believe it until I see it. Especially with BNDEP not having the most well presented fleet on the island, and HGDEP not too far behind, it would seem hard to believe. Or, there are some twisted people out there, maybe they have a vendetta against all enthusiasts and are just getting us to chase our own tails?
