SBST introduces another 3 new services!

wow, it seems SbST is expanding their fleet. In such a short span of time, many new services were introduce.
Is time for SMRT to review their bus services, forget about your display 'thingy', introduce new routes and bring real benefits to the people under your 'care'! -
It's sickening, this thread is not about the press releases. It's discussing the role of SMRT!

Anyway, since the 3 new svcs is going to be introduced, the bus fleets will be affected. It means that some buses will have to be deployed on the 3 new svcs.

1995: Took over by TIBS
1999: Extended to Sengkang, renumbered TIBS 866.
2005: Re-introduced svc (Bishan – Changi Village) -
my bet is 59 will duplicate 2 frm the time 2 turns into loyang ave, all the way to changi village. the map on the cardboard is kinda straight.

I sure take 59 as it will be much cheaper than 506 and both makes no difference in the express sector. Its time SBST do something to 506, or it may end up like 501,502...

service 59 should serve Toa Payoh Lorong 6 instead of Toa Payoh Lorong 1.

they are probably afraid that introduces more bus services would eat up some of their train revenues. to them, their EWL/NSL linked up major corridors in Singapore, your destination can be easily reached via bus->train->bus.Originally posted by phillipC:I guess SMRTwill never wake up!

They simply ignored the inconveniences, the higher expenses and the transfer time incurred in making such travel.
The introduces of many new services in Bishan, could probably result in shuttle services there obsolete. Like other mature estates, more residents there probably need not make any transfers in buses/trains in bishan interchange/mrt station.
Anyway car is cheap now, buses may not be the only option now. However PTC must still seriously look into the needs of residents presently served by SMRT. -

Have PTC ever consider the need of those residents being served by SMRT.
I seriously doubt so.
If the operations rights in those north and west area not given up by SMRT, it will never ever improve. Trust me. A live example is Yew Tee.
Remember not long ago a reader from Zaobao, wrote to the forum page, asking for a direct service from Bt Panjang and CCK area to Toa Payoh and AMK area. The easy way out by the profit oriented organisation is to say there isnt enough demand to justify the service and there is a direct connection using the MRT/LRT network.
Let's reflect what have SMRT done over the past one year.
Only one 950 was introduced to JB
Downgraded the bus fleet from MB to the ugliest and worst bus fleet in Bt Panjang feeders services (namely 920 and 921), after asking for a fare hike and despite the bloody public outcry from the public.
Shortened the 175, and renamed 975
"Display thing'- which is quite reduntant! People want a more decent and better bus connection, which helps to reduce the bus fare and travelling time.
The public are not fancy about a LCD display which shows them where they are. Trains frequency dropped, which is quite abvious for us. -
I believe sv43 will be jointly run by AMK & HG DEP coz i have seen SBS88Z[AM 410] & SBS1909Z[HG 107] doing Route Familiarisations on past Saturdays along Marine Parade Rd

Tamp Ave 1/2 duplicates 8/17/18/28 up to Tamp East CC
