care to post them?Originally posted by SGEMP:Ya, got pic on these...you are right, seen one or two such buses........
They are at below.Originally posted by SBS9828X:care to post them?
Cant be that fast to 8 mins, i have never encountered anything less than 10 mins for my 506 rides. Usually 15 -20 mins and today's 506 frequency seemed to worsen quite a bit.Originally posted by service_238:construction is currently not affecting the traffic flow as the lane allocation for each carriageway is the same. the curvature of the road is also the same (except kallang/bendemeer slip road). 59 will not be affected as it still serves the purpose of the quick link. journey time on PIE should not last more than 8-11min.
The AMDEP-controlled portion of Sv. 58 is under BS RG, while the BNDEP section is under PR RG.Originally posted by muziq bus:Lucky for you, i took a joyride on 29 to CV and saw only 1 MK3 parked there(service 2 of course)
With the addition of svc 59, hopefully the place will look less empty and of course, better connections to CV
off topic: Service 58, does it belong to the PSR route group or BSH?
coz the svc guide and TLG06 shows it falls under BSH route grp..
Am i outdated? Has this issue popped out before?
You can take service 975 to Bukit Panjang and transfer to services 75 or 184. Now, that's 2 rides instead of 3, but you have to spend quite an amount of time in Bukit Panjang.Originally posted by phillipC:image, during sbst era, from CCK ave 3 to ngee ann poly and SIM, can take 172 to upper bt timah and change 61,75 and 184.
after taken over by the then TIBS, now SMRT, 172 shorten to CCK.
got to take 172 to CCK and take 67 to upper bt timah, then change to 184,61 and 75.
Just imagine the time and $$$ wasted and making these trips. and it is not a very long distance from CCK ave 3 to clementi road.![]()
Jalan Toa Payoh, it can take 10 mins to clear to get back to PIEOriginally posted by TIB529A:service 59 should not use Toa Payoh Lorong 1. There are very little passengers there that will take 59, unlike Toa Payoh Lorong 6(where 57 and 238 serves).
It should also use Jalan Toa Payoh, so as to achieve more passengers.
There dun seem to be restriction on double deckersOriginally posted by SBS9845X:Will there be Double Decks for 52? It is going past the places that 74 gets the high loads from.
Already Sv 52's rt from Jurong East to NP is already 1 long heavy corridor stretchOriginally posted by 28_29_293:all the 3 new svcs will start off with single deck buses. If the demand is high, most likely there will be double deck buses plying. Svc 52 most likely 2 have dd buses. Just wait & see.
Svc 48, 57 & 58 wont get double deck buses.
57 or 59 is better off plying Lor 8 to provide a direct link from Bishan to Toa payoh industrial park, as for lor 1, some of the buses which ply lor 4 should use lor 1 or 2 instead, lor 4 is too congested with long lines of busesOriginally posted by TIB529A:service 59 should not use Toa Payoh Lorong 1. Nope, Sv 985 has done it for yrsOriginally posted by PhyrePhox:Hmmm... I think svc 52 has the unique trait of exiting RIGHT out of an expressway since the Jalan Anak Bukit exit is on the right-most lane. Now I'm wondering if the gradation involved in that stretch will create problems for a full load DD.
I dun see any pt seriously, Bt Timah road can be heavily jammed bet 0645 and 0730 (Which makes svs like 151 often late).Originally posted by my@jas:I think Svc 52 to Bishan won't be a fast one during evening peak hours due to the frequent jam at the PIE exit to Lornie Rd. Off topic: can a bus changes it's express sector to suit the road conditions (eg jams)?
That would be effective. Would you say the same for a 52B from Bishan to Clementi Road (SIM)?Originally posted by sbst275:I would expect to see high boarding and alighting activities conducted @ bth sides of Clementi MRT/ Int bus stop for Sv 52
I suggest there be a Sv 52A Jurong East - Jln Anak Bt (Loop)
That side will have to see when sv starts..Originally posted by PhyrePhox:That would be effective. Would you say the same for a 52B from Bishan to Clementi Road (SIM)?
Originally posted by 105090:yeah.. theres some sense there.. some commuters benefits from a direct link/ bus service, however, more bus services usually may means increased/ worse frequency for some routes which may need to give up one or two buses. (since theres no withdrawals of services lately). and with more routes, passenger loads are either diverted or diluted, means the regular service they took will experience lesser loads.. good for passengers, bad for operators. more buses operating means costs will rise like diesel and salary and maintainance. lets say this route wasnt introduce, commuters will still use their normal way to go to work, or when a bus is withdrawn, there will be alternatives.
everybody wants a direct bus to everywhere islandwide.. thats not possible, but the bus operators had tried to make it as best as possible for everyone. most importantly, dont introduce new routes for the sake of it, or to make the facts and figures look grand!
another fare hike soon?
In conjunction with the Army Half Marathon 2005, NR 1, 2 , 5 , 6, 7 & 8 will be end early on 11 September 2005. Please click here for details
Just wait patiently, SBST need to survey on the new services to find out passenger demand, if there's high loading and no height restriction, SBST will definately deploy double deckers if feasible.Originally posted by SBS9845X:Will there be Double Decks for 52? Service 985 too.Originally posted by PhyrePhox:Hmmm... I think svc 52 has the unique trait of exiting RIGHT out of an expressway since the Jalan Anak Bukit exit is on the right-most lane. Now I'm wondering if the gradation involved in that stretch will create problems for a full load DD.
Only FFw BCs are allowed to do so. Normal route BCs have to ply the original routes regardless it's express sector or not, but if they have to make a detour, they have to communicate with their company and get permission.Originally posted by my@jas:can a bus changes it's express sector to suit the road conditions (eg jams)?
Hope so...Originally posted by tranquilice:Just wait patiently, SBST need to survey on the new services to find out passenger demand, if there's high loading and no height restriction, SBST will definately deploy double deckers if feasible.
For example, service 88 started off as PAC with a full single-deckers fleet. After a few months, it was converted to FAC and double deckers were then deployed after surveying the demand.
