I missed those LAs on 222 & 291 on their final years in 2000, as well as VO2x serving on 291 especially. Nowadays, VO2x are now commonly seen on JIS.Originally posted by sinicker:the DDs on 222 and 291 seem to have disappeared. what we all know is that the DDs on 291 are nw on 19.

For me, I took LAs on Svc 291 frequently in 2000, especially SBS4990S & SBS4997Z, before the last of LAs were withdrawn. I knew some LAs were withdrawn, especially with the rego range of 16xx, 55xx, 68xx & 69xx.Originally posted by sinicker:/

some BCs know how to speed with them, especially frm the bus stop outside blk 237 to the bus stop outside blk 230 there.

Ahem.....frequency for BB feeders are still the same for SMRT compared to SBST...in fact, even better, back then, the load for 361 was too much to handle that 361 had to use LAs....n later 367 had to use VO2x....but right now....the frequency is slightly better....that is why bendies are no longer used...Originally posted by sbst275:Nothing to do with demand
It is just the frequency
No reason for the jamOriginally posted by muziq bus:Ahem.....frequency for BB feeders are still the same for SMRT compared to SBST...in fact, even better, back then, the load for 361 was too much to handle that 361 had to use LAs....n later 367 had to use VO2x....but right now....the frequency is slightly better....that is why bendies are no longer used...
for 911, 912 and 913, u can't blame them for their late frequency, blame the massive jam instead...one time, the jam was so unbearable that 178 returned to WDL as a quad...
check 903, i ride most of the time...the load is extremely high, 5 mins 1 bus....but is dependent on the jam as well.....
YSH and CCK feeders(except 307) are of course well received....
So don't jump to conclusions....waiting for a bus for 35 min due to the jams don't mean that SMRT is not efficient.....fyi, WDL CTR RD is now a 2 direction rd.....part of it though...this is for easier detour for buses heading towards WDL REG INT
The Teck Whye Lane very narrow thats why cannot have bendiesOriginally posted by Apex-LW'21:Why 307 don't deserve bendies? Since 307 is full-load of Regent Sec & Unity Sec, they should have deployed bendies.
Why don't 307 have Green & White Plate, just like SBST feeders? For me, Green Plate is for CCK St 62 and White Plate is for Teck Whye Lane.Originally posted by Volvo Olympian:The Teck Whye Lane very narrow thats why cannot have bendies
Then what is the rationale of having it merged in the first place? it will be just like the former services 301 & 303.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:Why don't 307 have Green & White Plate, just like SBST feeders? For me, Green Plate is for CCK St 62 and White Plate is for Teck Whye Lane.![]()
307 don't serve Teck Whye when the LRT opens in 1999 but restored in 2002. TIBS 307 in 1999 used bendies.Originally posted by cck_190:Then what is the rationale of having it merged in the first place? it will be just like the former services 301 & 303.![]()
In the 1990s, a feeder service 301 was set up to serve the teckWhye area. As Teck Whye, it was expanded until almost similar to the route of 307 in Teck Why today. In 1995(if i'm not wrong), Feeder 303 was made to serve the then-undeveloped area of Choa Chu kang North. It's original route was just until Choa Chu Kang North 5, eventually, as HDB dwellers moved in to the north, it was extended up to Yew Tee MRT.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:307 don't serve Teck Whye when the LRT opens in 1999 but restored in 2002. Come 1997, SBS was at the verge of introducing a new concept service, Townlinks. Following the success of Tampines townlinks, CCK followed suit when SBS merged 301 & 303 to form Townlink 307. Under SBS, 307 used Volvo MK3s, VO2X, and some old leyland & merc dds. Occasionally, just like now, a "higher-class" bus, the Volvo Olympian & Leyland Olyampian 3X came.
In 1999, when Tibs took over, 307 remained until somewhere 2000. This was when Tibs cut short the Intra-Town and it became a feeder. At this time, DAFs and sometimes MB0405G Many Teck Whye residents who lived there complained to the MPs around there(that's what was said in the news) and it became a big issue. once the issue of 307 even appeared in the news. Tibs gradually extended it first with a completely different route during the 2001 general elections. When over, tibs restored the full old route back with a few changes, and the called it an "ENHANCEMENT" by THEM...when it is actually just a restoration of the old service. This was when the fleet of CAC 0405s came in. there you go, history of Townlink 307...a service which celebrates it's 15th anniversary this year
to those experts out there, please correct me if i wrote anything incorrect
What do you mean no reason for the jams?Originally posted by sbst275:No reason for the jam
By right, the time sheet, traffic conditions have to be considered if it occurs daily
Sv 903 loading I know is high. That is comparable to 242

WDL CTR RD is da usual spot for jams.....
it does not really occur daily nor does it occur at a specific time...the jams come randomly and unplanned....

u can't simply blame the frequency sheet...
i once waited for 168 for 35-40 mins at TAM.....driver said bus breakdown....
and there was one time where WDL had no 168 and 161 coming in due to congestion....
u can't blame spreadsheet
just be there at the right place at the right time...
of all my 911/912/913 rides....i waited only once for more than 20 mins...
Don't believe that SMRT has done much. Many people were stranded at the bus stop just outside the Woodlands train checkpoint. (hope you know where it is)Originally posted by sbst275:Nope
If there is a jam, then the time sheet has to reflect it... No reason for buses to be late if the jam reguarly appears...
This same goes to many SBS trunk svs
Yes, testified, guaranteed and being thru it personally before.Originally posted by 105090:856/ 178/ 913? are allowed to skip Woodlands Centre Rd if there is jams if i'm not wrong
actually, the Traffic jams can be easily predicted, or rather, there is a fixed pattern.. example is in the mornings, towards KB at Wooldlands Crossing, Bas Kilang/ Bas Perkerja will flood the viaduct
on Weekends and Sundays/ PH especially, the jams gets more famous

Highlighted in blue, the jam occured every Saturday, standard, guaranteed, testified and been thru it before. Due to the jam, the only public buses that can spotted along Woodlands Centre Rd (the section after junction of BKE and Woodlands Rd) were mostly 950 and 170 only. Why 950 and 170? Because they not affected much by jam at the junction as they turned left to upon clearing customs, as you can see. However, 170 and 950 also will take some time to arrive, due to the jam in the causeway.
Other services (like 856[towards Yishun direction], 911,912 and 913) took a very very long time to filter thru the jam. Not to forget 178.
I have seen 911 and 912 dropped passengers off Marsiling Rd, and head back to Woodlands Int (perhaps?), as there were 911 and 912 buses stucked in the jam already, these buses will serve the passengers when they filter thru the jam, no point asking the 911 and 912 buses (of later schedule) to join in the jam.
As for 903 wise, passengers were told to alight at Woodlands Centre Rd, somewhere after the mosque. Nowadays the jam stretched until the junction of Woodlands Centre Rd and Marsiling Rd.
This has been testify personally before.![]()

Sincerely hope SMRT to deploy their buses using the newly drawn opposing lane at Woodlands Centre Rd, and make an "illegal" U-turn just before the Woodlands Centre carpark entrance, to pick the passengers stranded at that particular bus stop (after the junction of BKE and Woodlands Rd), so that those buses that were stucked in the jam will not affect the frequency too much.
