Come on, give it a break. You expect to judge a service based on its first day of service, and what more, on a weekend?
Remember 58? Ridership in its first few virgin days were pathetic, but now, it's packed like nobody's business in the mornings! And after a month of service, they finally decide to erect bus stops for 58 along Ubi Avenue 3! -

my point is if you want to judge a service, do it consistently for a couple of weeks/months. don't just simply base it on a SINGLE trip in a SINGLE day.

I believe for Weekday demand
Sv 43 high demand area is bet Sengkang and Paya Lebar, but faces compeition from 70 and 76 in PL leg
Sv 52, for now poly vacation, Jurong East and Clementi MRT stretch
Sv 59, from what I see, Toa Payoh to Tampines Ave 2 stretch -

Just 1 more point to add, I believe Sv 43 can relief the heavy corridor of Marine Parade and PL as well -
Now I am also interested on how the frequency will go...

I took 59 yesterday and its load are very good on the first day. This service will get DDs sooner or later.
The queue at Bishan Int for sv 59 is quite short, it is just extend from B5 using the yellow railings just like 401 in Bedok Int. The queue was very long and people already queue outside the railings while 58 only 3 person. -
Is there any NAC buses serving 43, 52 & 59? Since the 3 are new svc, I might not be free to spot or ride on any 3 svcs and to record down the bus fleets.

Observation for 2 days of operation for 59 ( 3+ hours accumulated)
Sv 59 definitely has what it takes to operate from Bishan to Tampines. Of most of the buses i boserved and took, the pax is quite healthy except for a problem that their frequency is too good.
Today: Still not bad, although only have 7-8 passengers on 7 of the buses i saw. No pics though, as i didnt bring cam. There was 1 case where the second 59 that ariived after the 1st about 7 mins later also has 5 pax.
This route surely has much more potential compared to 58.
Observation for 506:
Pax in AM Peak(today) as good as usual, better than 59. Speeds faster than 59 (most of the time). On Sunday, it isnt much affected by 59 too. -
I didnt see any NAC. An off-topic note:
Don't try to act smart and predict the loads of the bus service, or whether the bus service will do well etc etc. Only time will tell. Period. I believe loads will vary between different times of the operation.
Observation may not be 100% acccurate. I believe SBS Transit is able to get a more accurate data of the ridership and loads of the bus. I don't think anyone of us have the appropriate equipment (and i don't mean eyes, hand, paper and pen) to monitor ridership and loading. So time will tell.

Competition?What are you talking about??This is more to cat and mouse game,If i drive S43 along Paya Lebar and if either S70 or S76 infront of me,I would rather follow a distance behind him and allow him to take more pax and would overtook him after that

but hey! every now and then on weekdays from 9am onwards till 4pm, sv58 buses always has.. less than 8 passengers.. (one point is that it bypass Tampines)
still, first day loads may be good on 43/52/59 because theres many people trying out the route, and for 43 case, for ppl in SK going to Marine Parade etc.
and yeah.. give the new services a chance to proof themselves -

Today just gone to school at 6.45 am and saw a bus 43 towards Upper East Coast direction with many of the seats empty while bus 76 and 156 is rather packed with ppl. these new svcs (52, 59) controlled by AMDEP get all the old buses (Mk 2, 0405s) indeed...
HGDEP (43,34) gets newer Mk 3, 4s -
