Not really. It duplicates 951 between BNL and BBT West Ave 3, not 178.Originally posted by ah-soh:is it true that because 852 duplicates the route between Boon Lay and Bukit Batok with 178 thus making it to be shortened to Bukit Batok interchange during 1996? if so why they don't shorten 178 instead of 852?![]()
Not true. 852 plies Boon Lay Way while 178 plies Corporation Rd.Originally posted by ah-soh:is it true that because 852 duplicates the route between Boon Lay and Bukit Batok with 178 thus making it to be shortened to Bukit Batok interchange during 1996? if so why they don't shorten 178 instead of 852?![]()
In year 2000 or 2001, it is a KJDEP-AMDEP joint venture. WA bodied DAFs were served on 852 before. (TIB724C was the one)Originally posted by iveco:Was 852 ever a KJDEP-AMDEP joint venture? I remember WA-bodied DAFs ever served on this route before.
Yes.Originally posted by ah-soh:thanks for everyone's info
so the old 852 route between Boon Lay Interchange and Jurong Town Hall Road is the same as current service 180?
TIB279X & TIB280R were the first 2 aircon buses in TIBS fleet. TIBS 852 was a PAC in 1988.Originally posted by SBS3688Y:I remembered svc 852 used to be partial air-con ard the mid-80s. Its was using the Nissan U31SCN with Fuji air-con buses. But was later converted back into fully NAC service. Was svc 852 the first Tibs partial A/C svc?

Should be. I used to purposely wait for it whenever I took 852 from Jurong Int to Yishun Int.Originally posted by ah-soh:so service 852 is the first TIBS service to use aircon bus?![]()

SVC 850 & 851 from Yishun Ctrl Ter & SVC 800 & 801 from Yishun Ave 5 Ter in 1985. SBS MB OF1417s were also used to ply TIBS services as TIBS had shortage of buses then.Originally posted by SBST390:fyi, yours truly had lived in YIS since 1984... and also have been reading the bus guide since then.
850 was accorded aircon status with the Nissans somewhere in 86 or 87 IIRC. have distinct memories of it as then it was still 850 and 851 operating from the temp roadside terminal.
TIB 146 to TIB 250 were Hino HT228 Buses with Hino Body, non Air Con.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:Svc 852 uses 2 AIRCON Nissan Diesel U31SCN buses, used as NAC bus before withdrawal in 1995.

correction... the DAF hispanos were bought ahead of the MBO405s. also... not all were DAFs... some were hispano bodied Hinos... the black window ones.Originally posted by demag_ac:TIB 146 to TIB 250 were Hino HT228 Buses with Hino Body, non Air Con.
TIB 251 to TIB 278 were Nissan Diesel U31SCN with Fuji body, non Air Con.
TIB 279 and TIB 280 were the first 2 Air Con Nissan Diesel busse with Fuji Body and Fuji Air Con, which is IBCU-050.
TIB 281 to TIB 310 were either Nissan Diesel U31SCN or R87, but if I am not wrong, they are all R87, with Fuji body, Non Air Con. If you have Bus Guide 1992, you can see the R87 on the cover, with black headlights cover. The U31RCN from TIB318 to TIB336 has silver rectangle cover.
TIB 311 to TIB 317 were the next 7 buses that TIBS bought with AC, they are all Nissan Diesel U31SCN with Fuji Body and IBCU-050 AC.
TIB 318 to TIB 336 were Nissan Diesel U31SCN with Fuji Body, Non Air Con.
TIB 337 to TIB 361 were Hino HT238 with Hino Body, non Air Con.
TIB 380 to TIB 389 were Hino HT238K with Hino body and unknown AC. Half of these buses were converted to non AC and then they were transferred to SSB. These buses served on Service 950 if my memory is correct.
TIB 390 was a Nissan Diesel U31SCN with Fuji Body and Fuji IBCU-050 AC.
All the AC buses (TIB279, TIB280, TIB 311 to TIB317 and TIB 390) once served on Service 852. I can't remember which service was the first to be PAC, so I will defer to SBST390's memory that Service 850 was the first.
When TIBS started buying MBO405 with Hispano body in bulk, and Introducing them progressively from Nov 1994, TIBS started the conversion of the original AC Nissan Diesel into Non AC. What they did was simply disabled the AC controller and opened up the windows. I'm not sure whether the AC on top was gutted out or not.
After that, TIBS bought TIB391 to TIB 404, DAF SB220 with Hispano Body (with the Service numbers on the left Hand Side of the LED display), and TIB 405 to TIB 424, which was the same, just that the LED display shows the service number on the right hand side. All the DAF buses served on Service 950, 951 and 952 before being converted to SSB buses.

TIB380K–TIB389L became CSS290T–CSS293K & CSS295E–CSS300Z. It was used as NAC bus. I saw it on CSS 602 before. Even the Bus Guide 85 &86 (especially CSS Bus Guide 86 with TIBS Routes) didn't noted down 850 was PAC, it might be this svc. They want you to rely on MRT for the Boon Lay to Bt Batok stretch. ("convenience" mahOriginally posted by ah-soh:Is it possible to lure 852 back to Boon Lay as to provide a link between Boon Lay and Marymount area?
Yup, sequence of my paragraphs got out of sequence there, should be DAF first in 1990 then MBO405 in Nov 1994.Originally posted by SBST390:correction... the DAF hispanos were bought ahead of the MBO405s. also... not all were DAFs... some were hispano bodied Hinos... the black window ones.
the Hino HT238 ACs did all 950 to 952... it was prevalent on 951 and 950...
