Hmm. Definetely not a scaled down version of the Volvo B7RLE running in Sentosa. A clear giveaway is the rear window on the model! The real Sentosa B7RLE don't have a rear window.
It is probably an existing model in the manufacturer's lineup but painted in the colours of the Sentosa bus; just like what SBS did for their 25th Anniversary model. This is much more faster and cheaper than to produce a scaled down model of the real thing, whereby the manufacturer will have to design and make the mould for casting. -

i saw a toy model of a double bendy over at AMK...a friend of mine told me that they had once tried to make something like that but the engine wasnt that capable enough to move the vehicle and somehow, there was a problem with the centre connector....dunno whether what he said was true or not....said he read it at a particular website

seems like a MAN original body citybus to me ! But the scale of 1:72 quite 'non-standard' (i.e. not 1:87 or 1:43 etc.) i find & looks to be plastic instead of metal ? I've no problem with that, technically.
But does anyone know of anywhere where people who want to buy buses would go to look ?!? This is a bus forum, so that'll logically imply this is among the few places where people who have any real interest in buses (whether buying or not) would 'congregate' ?
Perhaps it's time that a topic header for such dealing in scale omnibus models be created within this forum in view of the relevance of the subject matter & also that it's highly UNcommon to find almost anywhere out there (whether on the Internet or in the real world around) where there's such dealing going on ?Originally posted by sBs_boy:

Interesting. I notice yours is RHD (1st time i see a M-B scale model in RHD !)
What's the scale, model maker name, plastic or metal & of course, where's it sold in HK & the price there ?? Not available in Singapore or Malaysia this time ?

Some of these you mentioned (going by your description) are actually refering to the bus in bus-chassi form only ?!? Like the Scanias, Volvo B7L i.e. with no bodywork ?? That i think is very difficult to find since the integral original bodywork models alone are rare to come by !!

The bus is a demonstrator for the UK, thus it has RHD (It took me a while to figure out what is RHD).

No other colours....only white... -
I saw the Sentosa Bus in a Toy Shop along North Bridge Rd[near Sultan Mosque] yest.
The shop's name is Tai Sheng Toys... quite big...
The Sentosa Bus is inside the show case... It also sells HK's NWFB playset...

I've just visited the jotus website. Interesting new way to buy models instead of physically flying there to buy ! But my dislike of online buying is that one is not able to inspect the actual product before buying it so as to ensure one is not given a 'sub-standard' piece, which could be troublesome to exchange ?!
I note that Citaro model is die-cast with 1:76 scale, not quite a 'standard' scale like HO or 1:43 unfortunately ! Also this maker Creative Master Northcord, never heard of them before but how you find the model's quality ?? In terms of sharpness of edges, accuracy of details, paintwork finishing ? Also since it's die-cast (metal hence !) @ only 1:76 is the sharpness & accuracy as good as on the high quality plastic models like Herpa of 1:87 scale ?
I also note they only make 1000 pieces this model. It seems the regular 3-door red colour version is more popular as the 2000+ pieces were all sold out !
Overall of that model website, i notice they cater mainly to RHD models used in Hong Kong & England ? I hardly can find any model used say in Germany or rest of Europe ?? If you havent noticed,
Most of the buses produced by Corgi and Creative Master Northcord for the hong kong buses are based on this 1:76 scale.
I have never bought any plastic buses before, as i find the model too "unreal" due to the weight and paint. Quality is alright compared to Corgi models.
Also, the model may be sold out in jotus, but may still be avaliable elsewhere.

Purchasing a fleet would definitely cost a bomb.
Even the old TIBS shop sold buses at that price.
I remembered the female shopkeeper telling me
"Single deck-$40
Smaller double decker (2-axle)-$50
Bigger double decker (3-axle)-$60"
So $1o to $2o is really impossible...except for the Sentosa bus model, but unfortunately, its of a different body than that of the original....
