heard this sound on SBS 482T too ..Originally posted by SBS9828X:should be door not closed yet...
heard on the striders b4 too
SBS 482T has air leak whenever its handbrake is released. The sound u heard is the low air pressure alarm. I think the problem has been fixed.Originally posted by SBS BUSES LOVER:heard this sound on SBS 482T too ..
If my memory serves me right, OAC O405 DMs originally had blue seats, grey vents & didn't use these kind of aircon outlets.Originally posted by 105090:SBS310G. the bells on the sides, and the seats had been retained. the air-con or ventilator vents also the same old one. No TV mobile. blue ceilings.
They had grey seats, with a blue stripe down the centre. Much more comfortable than the present seats though...Originally posted by samtlk:If my memory serves me right, OAC O405 DMs originally had blue seats,
I prefer the blue colored seats. More comfy.Originally posted by stooper:They had grey seats, with a blue stripe down the centre. Much more comfortable than the present seats though...
A few even older ones (both the Alexander and Duple-Mestec versions) originally had air vents with tiny slit blowers covered in a furry covering similar to those Duple-Mestec-bodied Malaysian Lances; there was no adjustable air vents. One rather old publication at the National Library (can't remember which - I will go check this weekend) had this article on the introduction of TransitLink farecards on buses, and there were two photographs showing a lady using the farecard on board some bus (which I suspect was taken inside an SBS Transit MB O405 bus). On both photographs, you can clearly see these air vents in the background, although they are a bit blurry.Originally posted by samtlk:If my memory serves me right, OAC O405 DMs originally had blue seats, grey vents & didn't use these kind of aircon outlets.
only the DMs used the slit blowers. O405 WAs used the same outlets as those found on the current SMRT O405s. Scania buses used the same eyeball outlets as those found on the SMRT Nissans.Originally posted by eX.A.K.R.:A few even older ones (both the Alexander and Duple-Mestec versions) originally had air vents with tiny slit blowers covered in a furry covering similar to those Duple-Mestec-bodied Malaysian Lances; there was no adjustable air vents. Is the frequency affected?Originally posted by 28_29_293:For citybuzz svcs, C1 left with 3 buses, C2 left with 2 buses, C3 left with 2 buses. For C3 is SBS9843B return to svc81 (if i m rite). How abt C2, which bus return to normal svc?
If I'm not wrong, SBS 9843B used to be a either a route 161 or 168 permanent bus, right? I remembered almost always catching this bus on either route back in the days of Super Olympians on those routes.Originally posted by 28_29_293:For citybuzz svcs, C1 left with 3 buses, C2 left with 2 buses, C3 left with 2 buses. apologies.. its the seats configuration. the bus lost 1 seat to the TV mobile. the interiors and seats are the refurbished ones of course, but for 293Y, the ceiling is a plaer pink.Originally posted by samtlk:If my memory serves me right, OAC O405 DMs originally had blue seats, grey vents & didn't use these kind of aircon outlets.
SBS9821P (168 )Originally posted by SBS3625D:9843B was a perm on 161, but was transferred out of 161 together with 9842D which is still in AMDEP.
I cannot confirm this, but apparently, the VSOs are not well-suited for the long-distance expressway routes, so a number of VSOs got transferred out of 161 and 168. Includes 9849K, 9848M, 9821P?
Now you say this, I remembered something. On Wikipedia's article on the Volvo Super Olympian, it was noted that several nicknames have been slapped on it (possibly in Hong Kong). The article reads (Chinese characters omitted as they don't display properly here):Originally posted by SBS3625D:...

I think this might be the reason that they were taken off those expressway routes: not enough horsepower, which translates into slower speeds and acceleration.Originally posted on Wikipedia:The engine was Volvo D10A285, with the maximum power of only 285hp, lower than 305hp of Cummins M11-305E used on Neoplan Centroliner and Dennis Trident 3, and 335hp of Cummins ISMe Euro III used on Dennis Trident 3/Enviro 500.
There are several nicknames of this bus model, which mean that the bus is not powerful enough. The most common are (pig), (meat cutlet) and (pork chop), derived from the word "Super").
