eh new thread? last time i think got another thread...Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:
The trident is not much better on expressways because the speed is also tightened by a lot. If you take a trident down expressways (89), you will find that no matter how the BC steps on the pedal, no difference or very little diference in speed, it is very common for buses of all types to overtake the trident. You will find that upon switching to 3rd gear, the BCs tend not to push the engine any further because everybody knows its useless to try to go past 55-60km/h. So I still feel that the Olympians are well-suited for 161 and 168.Originally posted by eX.A.K.R.:I think this might be the reason that they were taken off those expressway routes: not enough horsepower, which translates into slower speeds and acceleration.
p.s. I personally felt that they should have put a few Dennis Trident buses on this route if they wanted to retain low floor buses on those routes. In fact, I dreamed about a Trident on route 161 inside Woodlands Interchange once.
Take away the Speed limit and you'll know how well the bus can perform.Originally posted by SBS3625D:The trident is not much better on expressways because the speed is also tightened by a lot. PS: Tridents on main roads are not to be trifled with. Has an acceleration comparable to single-deckers, BCs know that and sometimes when there's a bus in front in the bus-bay, and both buses are leaving, the BC will actually overtake the bus in front!
Not so sure about that. The trident always struggles up the slope. If you thought the VO3X sound very cham climbing slopes from rest, the trident can scream its way through 1st gear and still refuse to shift to 2nd.Originally posted by sBs_boy:Take away the Speed limit and you'll know how well the bus can perform.
ventilation, ventilation..... i believe it's part of the bodywork, though there's no use for it after all.Originally posted by eX.A.K.R.:More questions, this time technical:
1. What are those two "knobs", found on the roofs of many OAC European TIBS/SMRT buses introduced in the early-mid-1990s (such as the DAF SB220, Hispano-bodied Mercedes-Benz MB O405, and the Scania L113CRL), for? They don't seem to be used for air-conditioning, or any other ventilation purposes, although they appear to me as that they do when I first saw them.
it made me wonder before... i believe its just part of the bodywork or the EDS compartment??Originally posted by eX.A.K.R.:More questions, this time technical:
2. Also, that mysterious "bulge" on the rear roof of the diesel-powered Volvo B10BLE demostrator - what is it used for? It's Scania cousin and CNG-powered siblings don't have that bulge.

[b]1) Why was the VOLVO B10BLE CNG chosen to ply on
66 ,93 , 105 , 143 , 243 ,
66 , 105 , 143, 93 are trunk svcs , while 243 is a feeder .
is it because of the outstanding ridership on these services or just for fun ?
why dosen't the CNG buses cameo on other svcs .
maybe feeder like 242
or trunk like 181 , 97
or EXPRESS 502 ?![]()

maybe you are right as 23 plies along Serangoon Rd!Originally posted by ah-soh:Is it appropriate for me to say that sv23 is a de facto 'Little India Direct?'
1858L is a wonderful example. The windows and doors are black while the body is a shining red and white.Originally posted by stooper:Yeah! But the wear out very very fast... I see the shine just last 1 or 2 weeks before they look like the other rims...
Some buses, espeically the DM3500 and Soon Chows, look very new when repainted! One example is 8028U! The side panels are damn shiny! It looks like they might have even replaced the side panels as I see the rubber horizontal strip, which used to divide red and white in the old SBS livery, is black.![]()
