Traction and torque are 2 different things. What you are talking abt in the statement above is traction; which is the abrasion between the wheel and the road surface. Torque is the turning effort of the engine.Originally posted by ^tamago^:rear. dennis trident and 997A is driven on the middle axle though. very interesting.
rear-wheel drive is suited for heavy vehicles cos it provides better traction or torque.
then is torque liao. got reason why i put a "or" there cos alrd return all my knowledge to teacher liao.Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:Traction and torque are 2 different things. i believe they will be driving a fixed shift everyday. only service will change.Originally posted by SBS BUSES LOVER:does a BC know what svc he is going to drive in advance ? . i think so . sometimes overhear that BC going to drive what svc tmr ..etc
but , if he is driving a particular svc for that day , will he get to choose whethere to do split shift or A/P shift >? or will SBST decide for the BC ?
Svc 200 is from Kent RIdge. ANyway, Kent Ridge has Svc 10 from ARBP while the rest come from BBDEP.Originally posted by 105090:BB and AR shares buses more frequently than between AMK and Braddell..
thats why BB buses always found on AR buses and the other way round.. also because of the bus services eg. at Buona Vista, u have 74,200 from BB, but 91,95,32 from AR. At Clementi, 14, 96 from AR, but 99,165, 166 from BB etc
for AMK and Braddell, the sharing of buses are less frequent.. Braddell buses usually on Toa Payoh, Eunos and sv131... AMK is St Michael's, Shenton Way, AMK, YCK
sharing of buses fro AM/BR is quite common also.Originally posted by 105090:for AMK and Braddell, the sharing of buses are less frequent.. Braddell buses usually on Toa Payoh, Eunos and sv131... AMK is St Michael's, Shenton Way, AMK, YCK
For standby BCs, I'm not sure, but for perm BCs, they defintely know.Originally posted by SBS BUSES LOVER:does a BC know what svc he is going to drive in advance ? . i think so . sometimes overhear that BC going to drive what svc tmr ..etc

That means AM buses can park in BR and vice-versa? Then when do they return them to the allocated depot since the timesheet states only 1 depot? Later end up one depot with all the buses, the other with no buses!Originally posted by lemon1974:sharing of buses fro AM/BR is quite common also.
u can see SBS9587 (SV 28 ), SBS9817 (SV 31), SBS9580 (SV 88 ), park in AMDEP instead of BRAM. There are a lot more TP buses which park in AMDEP.
think so for your first question. Not sure abt your last question.Originally posted by stooper:That means AM buses can park in BR and vice-versa? Some services like 242 & 243 have fixed BCs, timeslots & buses, except for cameos which the BCs will be informed by the computer when they report for duty.Originally posted by stooper:For standby BCs, I'm not sure, but for perm BCs, they defintely know.
For 179 BCs, during the Special timetable, they knew which weeks they were going to do 179 and which weeks they would be acting as Standby BCs in advance.
For 179, I observe, drivers doing A/P shift buses will alternate.
E.g. From 1A - 5A, 6P - 10P
1st week do 1A
2nd week do 7P
3rd week do 3A
4th week do 9P
5th week do 5A
6th week do 6P
etc
The S/E drivers rotate among themselves. Every week they move up 1 shift number (except 3 BCs). Otherwise, they move up to E shift for 1 week then back down to S shift on the following week.
But there will be exceptions sometimes... If they arrive late or something, they might be allocated to other shifts, like A/P doing S shifts or other services.
For 242 S shifts & E shift, I notice something strange. The BC and buses are fixed, but the duty is different.Originally posted by samtlk:Some services like 242 & 243 have fixed BCs, timeslots & buses, except for cameos which the BCs will be informed by the computer when they report for duty.
Interesting. Now I find out there is another type of shift, N shift. Night SHift
174M BCs are all standby BCs, they will refer to the roster for Mondays to Thursdays.
1N - 3N BCs are fixed, and they do only A shift on Mon - Thur.
4N - 6N BCs rotate among themselves, moving up 1 shift number every week. They do only P shift on Mon - Thur, except for the 6N BC who will also do P shift on Friday.

You should open your eyes a bit more,Originally posted by 105090:AM buses park at BR and vice versa is normal...
but the sharing of buses is much lower..
any AMK bus hardly cameos on a BR service etc etc..
take an example of sv88 (from BRAM) it gets about 2-4 SP merc WA daily. all from BRAM. so far i havent seen any AMK bus cameo on 88 yet etc..
thats the interesting part!
no difference...just an internal arrangement among themselves when the service first started. 1N - 3N BCs can be rostered to do S, T or P shifts on weekdays (although rare) if there are not enough people. 1N is the first & last bus.Originally posted by stooper:Interesting. Now I find out there is another type of shift, N shift. Night SHift
Is there anything different between 1N - 3N and 4N - 6N? 1N - 3N is earlier and 4N - 6N is later?![]()
Hmmm... Are there T shifts 174 on weekdays? What regos?Originally posted by samtlk:1N - 3N BCs can be rostered to do S, T or P shifts on weekdays (although rare) if there are not enough people
They do T shifts on other services, not necessary only 174, afterall they're also standby BCs...and yes there are T shifts on 174. I only know one of them is SBS413T.Originally posted by stooper:Hmmm... Are there T shifts 174 on weekdays? What regos?
