Very accurate info.Originally posted by samtlk:All buses are washed daily (not sure about those with 3D ads). Buses without 3D ads will go through the buswash machine, which takes only abt a min to wash. Buses with 3D ads are parked in separate lots & sub-contracted out for manual washing I think.
Hougang Central Interchange started ONLY in the year 1994.. Before that, it was Hougang INt (Hougang South Interchange). When hougang Central Interchange opened in the year 1994, Upp Serangoon Rd Terminal was closed down and all services were diverted into Hougang Central Interchange.Originally posted by Y_Shun:Can someone tell me the history of the bus services avaliable in Hougang Central Interchange today?
From 1970/1980 onwards until now...
Like, most buses are from Ang Mo Kio lenthen to Hougang.
E.g 74, 165 and 132.
no, theres no security checks, but u better dont do so.. theres a lot of hassle. Firstly, upon alighting from 170, u gota take the escalators up, to the entrance of the departure hall. you can walk away to the pedestrian bridge. But theres police manning the gate..Originally posted by choww:Is there any security checks if i take sv170, alight at Woodlands Checkpoint and board another service back?
How about JB Side ( Like you change your mind and dowan come SG) and also what if you reach SG Checkpoint then want to go back MY?Originally posted by 105090:no, theres no security checks, but u better dont do so.. theres a lot of hassle. means if u walk from Woodlands up to customs, u gota pass through a one-way door. if u want to walk back to woodlands centre (ie. like if u wanna chabge your mind and dont leave singapore) then u have to tell the police who will open a gate and let you through.
not advisable still..
alternatively, u can walk back down woodlands crossing. this is the road which the bus and cars etc uses when coming from Woodlands rd to the checkpoint..
Extended to Hougang Central Interchange.. 62 was the special case.. went over to punggol instead.. all feeders were either axed or being merged together to form your 112 113.Originally posted by Y_Shun:Oh okay, then how about Services to Hougang South Int which is now shut down? Thx![]()

In 1985, the first services in Hougang (South) Int were 85, 97, 111, 321, 323 and 329. Before the interchange was opened, 85 and 111 terminated at Upp Serangoon Rd (10.5 km), which in somewhere between Valley Rd and Jln Rengkam, near Glad Tidings Church. 97 was a new service which went to another new interchange at Jurong East.Originally posted by Y_Shun:Oh okay, then how about Services to Hougang South Int which is now shut down? you can walk back along the causeway or risk your "life" by walking back to the re-boarding concourse towards JB side.. u can be accused of "trying to be funny" or jaywalking.. theres many cameras police and Gurkhas here and there..Originally posted by SBS9889U:How about JB Side ( Like you change your mind and dowan come SG) and also what if you reach SG Checkpoint then want to go back MY?
So i guess most of the buses they use is MK2's , B57 (got any?) and OF1417 ... correct me if im wrong , thanks.Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:In 1985, the first services in Hougang (South) Int were 85, 97, 111, 321, 323 and 329. In 1986 came 54, which loops at what is now Eunos Int/MRT. More feeders were added; 322 and 327.
In 1988, 54 was integrated with 51 and that is how 51 came to Hougang. New Aircon service 118 to Orchard Rd was introduced. 329 was withdrawn and 328 was introduced.
In 1989, 62 was extended to Hougang from MacPherson. 132 was extended from Ang Mo Kio. By this time, the services in Hougang Int were 51, 62, 85, 97, 111, 118, 132, 321, 322, 323, 327 and 328.
The MRT rationalisations in the early 1990s saw services 85 and 118 withdrawn but the rest of the trunk services remained, along with a new addition, 151.
Those MB 0405 CAC buses their interior looks unatttractive then those WA and DM. The problem would be those A/C outlet, they looks veri dirty especially the one in SBS 3755L that had black finger prints all around it. It is because of the grey colour applied. For those WA and DM ones, they are red in colours, so they does not look dirty. Mabe those A/C vents should also be cleaned..Originally posted by MS:Very accurate info.
At the same time bus internals are also washed manually. I sometimes join in the washing even though I'm the T.O. Washing the bus is not as simple as many think. I've even seen newspapers of a lady demanding the buses to be washed at crazy intervals. If doing at that level, it'll only create a catastrophic situations where many buses are stuck while waiting to be washed & disinfectanted.
Maybe sleeping at BBDEP? Hmm , not sure about this.Originally posted by swee_heng:what does non user lay up status means?
