lay up mean that the vehicle is temporary not in use. No road tax is being paid during the lay up period. So the bus cant be on the road.. it need to be park at a designated area/depot and cant be move around without permission.Originally posted by stooper:What does Lay Up Expiry Date mean? Does it mean lay up until that date, then can see on the roads again? Lay up means no road tax too, right?
accordingly to LTA, lay up will be granted for a period of one year at one time, up to maximum of 3 years. So guess SBST will apply to lay up this bus after 14 Jul 2007 till end of it lift span.Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:Look at the date, it is just about 3 months away from its retirement date. I think that it can be in lay up status until this date, after which the bus cannot be used any more.
check from LTA website.. refer to the part that i have bold it.. it is stated clearly.Originally posted by SBS BUSES LOVER:just curious, how do you know it is in lay up until 14 Jul 2007 ?

NO, 100% confirm the 229 n 228 crossover still there.Originally posted by TWS4793:Are all CT18 buses perm for service 225?
SgWiki only claimed that SBS 0857X is the only crossover perm for 225 and CT18. Today I saw SBS 0819G on 225W, former CT18 bus, but it's not been the first time already. Probably someone needs to update the regos on SgWiki.

Can you post the full website so that ican find the full details about SBS3731EOriginally posted by lemon1974:lay up mean that the vehicle is temporary not in use. i think some parts of this bus might be damage and since it is almost reach its life span, so SBST might not want to replace the parts. So it put SBS3731E in lay up status and might use those spare parts from this bus instead. Just like those NAC Scania.

Plug doors are swing out doors. They function like normal doors, but the door swings out instead of pulling in and are normally installed at exit doors.Originally posted by chickenlittle2:wat is plug door?
Hmm , not at all , ever since the 220/290 days , although SBS998Y/SBS999U were ever perm on 290 before go to 18.Originally posted by toll123:Does sv 38 ever uses ADDs as cameos?![]()
SMRT Bendies , only the Volgren and Habit bendies have plug doorsOriginally posted by TWS4793:Plug doors are swing out doors. They function like normal doors, but the door swings out instead of pulling in and are normally installed at exit doors.
The buses in which you can sight a plug door have famous single decks like SBS 2888T, a Scania L94UB plying on Express 518 and is kept in custody at BNDEP. Another bus which spots this is SBS 2754X, a Volvo B10M MkIV DM3500 kept as a spare at AMDEP.
Double deckers also hae this kind of door configuration. All Dennis Tridents, VSO's and B9TL's spot a kind of plug door. No other buses had this kind of door.
SMRT buses have majority of the bendys fitted with plug doors.
Anything wrong with this information, please help correct it. Thanks.
