Weekday about 4.30 to 4.50 pm is the rushing time for SBS captains with great concern about peak hour commuters
For example, four buses are departing about 5 minutes interval and to reach a popular bus stop at 5.05, 5.10, 5.15 & 5.20 pm respectively.
The bus captains are trying to leave terminal a few minutes earlier than the schedule time, driving faster and avoid stop at bus stops by hiding right behind the bus in front so commuters can't see the bus number.
So the first three buses are arrived almost at the same time before 5.05 pm of the popular us stop and before large crowd of commuters arrive at the bus stop, so most of the commuters can only catch the forth bus, which is overload with peak hour crowd and arrive only after 5.20 pm.
To the bus captains, reaching bus terminal early means less workload and more rest time but the peak hour commuters will need to wait at least 15 minutes for a very crowded bus every day.

Not really. Bus captains have timetables to follow... although they might drift of course during service that is.
they may not necessarily want to follow their timetable.. if they "feel" they can drive fast, they can choose to tap at the office on time.. walk slowly to their bus.. rev up engine while parking... whatever time-wasting antics they have lah. then they drive fast, they're still safe.
about buses who hide in front of their sister buses so that they can overtake, some BCs of some services already know where to do this. for eg., svc 67 towards Tampines.. the 2nd bus will tailgate the 1st bus all the way until the Bedok MRT Stn bus stop. after this, the 2nd bus will overtake the 1st bus and having less passengers, can make a very big lead.
okay. i am wasting my energy. this thread's gonna get locked anyway.
Better still, clean their bus if 10 min ahead of schedule, go buy food and drink and eat and drink before tapping card.
