is marina centre bus terminal controlled by smrtb? is that's so then is it the reasons that many SBST services like 97, 111, 133, 502 etc looped at Marina Centre while SMRTB services like 171, 960, 75, 77, 106 etc terminated at there?

mayb svc 97 & svc 502 become 2 directional svcs but most likely wont happen. svc 56 can become loop svc i guess. If svcs 111 & 133 become 2 directional svcs, then the number of fare stages for each direction less than 20.

CityBuzz Svcs & SMRT NightRider Svcs do terminate there. (As for CityBuzz, when operation ends at 10pm)

Svc 111 may operate out of Marina Ctr if and when Ghim Moh terminal closes. Then we will have 111 as a Marina Centre - Ghim Moh loop service.

Come to think of it, 106 can be a loop service. Alternatively, it could ply Suntec City in both directions like 864 in the past (before merging with 84 and becoming 80).

SBST services that terminates there are 56, 195 & all Citybuzz services. Note that although 174M starts from there, the BCs are not required to report to the timekeeper.
SMRT services that terminates there are 75, 77, 106, 171, 960, NR2, NR5, NR6, NR7 & NR8.
Marina Centre Terminal cannot support too many services due to the limited parking space for buses. If you go & see the terminal during this coming Christmas Eve when 162M & 181M are in operation as well, you'll see the buses parked along the roadside all the way to & including the first bus-stop. -
Looking at the traffic scheme, It is better for services to loop at Marina Centre. Why? first of all, take an example of sv133. It is a looping service. It stops at Exhibition centre and Carrefour. People can walk to Marina Square very easily. People going back home can also board at Exhibition centre and Carrefour. Convenient.
As for sv56/196/77/75/171/960... They alight at Pan Pacific. Those going to sun tec have to walk. When going back home, they have to walk all the way to Raffles Avenue/ Esplanade to board. If they are at Suntec, they whave to walk so far. some more Marina Centre cannot board/alight.
One idea is for Marina Terminal Service to commence service n such a way that it terminate like current 106, and commence like city bound 36. -

Maybe the bus terminal will be gone after the opening of Circle Line.
