There's a notice on the windscreen of all 502 perm buses that says "No stopping along Clementi Estate, Ulu Pandan Rd, Holland Rd" -

already, when i saw 502 at 7.30am along PIE towards city, the bus only has like 15 passengers.. however, more loads seen during weekends.
maybe 502 is a weekend service more than a weekday peak service?
Evening peak also fully packed.
Which is why the service is split into 502A & 502B during peak hours. Part of the reason why it has so many people taking is because of its low frequency...15mins interval during off peak & almost 30mins interval during peak.
You can't take the load at PIE as the demand during off peak. There are also a lot of people taking 502 from Boon Lay Ave to Jurong East Ave 1/Toh Guan cos its the only service linking the 2 areas. -
Aiyoh! Why change 502 to Holland Road? They should leave it as PIE, then the journey will be faster and the frequency can be increased slightly!

When SV 502 amended to Holland Rd, I may incur long journey times whenever I want to take 502.

anyway it is not stopping @ holland / clementi as it is an express sector then might as well use PIE instead of wasting time passing through those areas ! -

PIE got more jams during peak hours than Clementi/Holland Rd
- slow traffic slip rd towards PIE after Clementi Ave 6 because of the slope
- jam between Upp Bt Timah Rd exit & BKE exit (esp in the evening)
- heavy traffic before Lornie Rd exit
- bumper-to-bumper jam along Steven Rd
- illegal parking along Anderson Rd outside RGS
- jam at Orange Grove Rd -

but the bus should be able to ply on the PIE during non peak hours cause got no jam and faster ! -
Dear Apex.. Sorry to burst your bubbles.. Pls take note that as for now, BCs are given the choice to choose between 2 different routes.. Give 3 examples:
1st example:
BC finds out PIE is jammed at Toh Guan Road. What would he do? Can use Clementi Road/Holland Road@
2nd example:
Now BC thought using Clementi Road is safe, but a major accident occurred there. So he uses 106's or 105's route EXPRESS.
3rd example:
Let's say he still took Clementi Road, but found out Holland Road was jammed up due to a breakdown of an 18-wheeler. Therefore he can go on like 52 and take PIE again.
Flexibility of routings for the fastest times.

i took the bus yesterday 11/3
on my trip to orchard rd , the BC went by holland
on my return trip the BC used the PIE -

no wonder that day i took 502B to orchard
first two times i took
go by PIE
which is even longer than going by clementi coz the jam damn bad..
den the last time i took
