SBST chose to get only 3-speed Voiths, though they can actually get a 4-speed equivalent that comes with a 4th overdrive gear, because the buses are speed limited to 60kph anyway. The overdrive will kick in at a speed higher than this, so it's impractical to have a non-working 4th gear.
Regoes starting with 54x?Originally posted by 914727:any idea which regos for the voith merz o405 (SBST)?
dat means tamago need to edit edit editOriginally posted by Windy_hates_B10TLs:Volvo Olympians were built in Irving in Scotland. Not Sweden
Not necessary. SLBP buses like 542D don't have Voiths. Maybe someone else has the exact list.Originally posted by SBS 233 X:Regoes starting with 54x?
correct. slbp does not hold Voith O405's.Originally posted by stooper:Not necessary. SLBP buses like 542D don't have Voiths. Maybe someone else has the exact list.
yeah. but, no lah. very busy. as an indicator, seeing the VIN of a bus:Originally posted by SBS9828X:dat means tamago need to edit edit edit
omg... wer u get this?Originally posted by ^tamago^:yeah. but, no lah. very busy. as an indicator, seeing the VIN of a bus:
actually UK (VIN first 2 is SL) for 9200-940x. 940x-9670 are from Sweden (YV).
e.g. SBS9408A is YV3YNF216TC026783 (probably first SBS VO chassis built in Sweden). SBS9400X is SLVYNF217SC025922.
SBS526B or TIB526H?Originally posted by Donavan:btw 526C has double-sound.
The normal engine sound kicks in first.
Then a strangely different sound came in. For whatever reason, it sounded more low-pitch. Would anyone mind explaining why?
is the sound limited to 526B only?Originally posted by Donavan:Oops. Kena mixed up again. 526 B.
See, I am currently not working at 10% potential yet.![]()
Guess that the bus has some transmission prob, instead of turbo lag. This happens to SBS2715J of 162 as well.Originally posted by SBS1908B:2697C has turbo-lag, don't ask me why, it takes some time, then suddenly the bus accelerates normally.
Try SBS906M of Service 23. You will know the meaning of "SHake it like a pack of popcorn".Originally posted by SBS1908B:Agreed.I took it when it cameoed on 107, and it proved to be wonderful, with the bus holding the gears to high rpm, but no shaky transition found on the mkIIIs in gears.
Guess it's the age of the mkIIIs that is causing the diff, since they use the same engine and gearbox.
Heard from some BCs driving service 23. This bus is the worst bus among other perm buses... the instrument panel there...meter 'dead' one. Cant see the 'wind'? Sorry this is translated from Chinese so wrong words please correct me.Originally posted by SBS9816E:Try SBS906M of Service 23. You will know the meaning of "SHake it like a pack of popcorn".
volvo buses don't have turbo lag. if u realised, the 2 buses with this problem are using Voith turbos. it is indeed a transmission problem cos i monitor 162 fleet, u noe. somehow the torque is poorly matched at the start.Originally posted by SBS1908B:2697C has turbo-lag, don't ask me why, it takes some time, then suddenly the bus accelerates normally.
from what you say, the whistle sounds like turbo to me, you know. the higher the rpm of the bus, the more audible the whistle becomes, right?Originally posted by stooper:If you want another uniquely soudning bus from SL, take 1859J of 192... It whistles like crazy when accelerating. You don't even have to take it! if you stand at the 179/502 berth there when the bus turns out of BNL, you can hear it whistle when accelerating!
pssp pssp sounds coming from the air compressor indicates a faulty air compressor, though it can mean something else deeper, like faulty air system, loose engine-compressor belt or engine idling speed too high.Originally posted by Donavan:2762Y is a funny bus.
It goes like all other DM3500, but then goes pssp pssp along its way when crusining and accelerating. Only during wet weather does it screech. Why is this so?
