Ps is the Body type i believe... as u can see, other Alexander PS buses are the 0405 and Mk2sOriginally posted by SBS1985C:In Scania N 113 CRB Walter Alexander PS , what does the PS stand for?
In Volvo B10M MK4 PSV Soon Chow, what does PSV stand for?
Just like Volgren has CrXXX and Duple Metsec has DMXXXX, Walter Alexander also has its own way of indentifying, not by numbers but by letters.Originally posted by SBS9828X:Ps is the Body type i believe... as u can see, other Alexander PS buses are the 0405 and Mk2s
psv sounds like a football team though![]()

Just curious...
What is UMW-Dennis Lance?
Alexander R and Royale are actually different. Royale are those Volvo/Leyland buses you see on the road now, and "R" are those withdrawn Olympians, O305, Atlanteans, etc...Originally posted by Donavan:PS is a body type just like Alexander R (Royale). PS in full form unknown.
Also those Ls on LOs i believe... saw the picOriginally posted by stooper:Alexander R and Royale are actually different. Royale are those Volvo/Leyland buses you see on the road now, and "R" are those withdrawn Olympians, O305, Atlanteans, etc...
Alexander Ls were on LAs, not on LOs.Originally posted by SBS9828X:Also those Ls on LOs i believe... saw the pic
Basically, for Alexander bodywork, the classification is as follows:Originally posted by SBS9828X:Also those Ls on LOs i believe... saw the pic
So in N 113 CRB WA PS the PS stand for the body work and not short form of any name ?Originally posted by SBS9816E:Basically, for Alexander bodywork, the classification is as follows:
Alexander L Type:
Seen on the Lelyand Atlanteans. It had a bi-fold entry door. By looking at its front, it looked pretty plain. It had 2 pairs of headlights that protruded from the front panel. On the overall, it looked older than the R Type Atlanteans. They were seen on services like 133, 135, 18, 103, etc in the past. One of the examples of an Atlantean with such bodywork was SBS2427R.
Alexander R Type:
More modern than the L Type, the R Type was the bodywork that were commonly seen on the last batch of Leyland Atlanteans.
The Leyland Olympian 2 Axle was also using the R Type as well.
Alexander Royale:
Commonly seen on the local Leyland Olympian 3 Axle and Volvo Olympian 3 Axle.
Alexander PS:
Commonly seen on the local Scania N113CRB, Mercedes Benz O.405 and Volvo B10M MK II. In fact, they have an uncanny look in the sense that one may mistake a N113CRB as a Merc O.405, or a N113CRB as MK II.
Hope that this solves some doubts for some of u down here.![]()
If I am not wrong...Originally posted by SBS1985C:So in N 113 CRB WA PS the PS stand for the body work and not short form of any name ?
then the Mk 4 PSV SC the PSV stand for the bodywork also?
SBS2427R served on Svc 166.

OF - front engined.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:SBS2427R served on Svc 166.
There are two types of Alexander L bodyworks for the LAs:
- Alexander L (1980), as mentioned already.
- Alexander L Flexvision (1982), SBS5529K has such bodyworks, front body has the word 'LEYLAND'.
btw, there is MB OF1413, LP1113, etc.
What is OF & LP stands for?
i think you are correct. the modification is the middle door, which didn't exist in 'P' bodies, cos most coach bodies (B10M is one) only required a front door.Originally posted by SBS1908B:Alexander 'P' body I heard, was modified slightly to meet our needs, and hence the extra 'S' for S'pore, if I am not mistaken.
'Metsec' is short form for 'Metal Sections'.Originally posted by striderz_o405:Adding on...
Baco = British Aluminium Company
Duple Metsec = Duple Metal Sections (Merger or what?)
Duple Metsec was formally called as Metal Sections. In the late 1970s, it was being acquired by Duple Coachbuilders Ltd. That's how the name Duple Metsec is formed.Originally posted by striderz_o405:Adding on...

sorry bout the LO thingOriginally posted by SBS1985C:based on SGwiki , WA had the
P type
PS type
R type - including RH, RL, RV, RLC, RVC & RHS
ALX series - including ALX100, ALX200, ALX300, ALX400, ALX500 .
so I think PS might not be only for Singapore
I seem to recall I got this info when I was surfing the net.Originally posted by ^tamago^:i think you are correct. the modification is the middle door, which didn't exist in 'P' bodies, cos most coach bodies (B10M is one) only required a front door.
Nope, ALX was before merger into Transbus. The ALX series is already being phased out. Now, it's the Enviro series.Originally posted by SBS9828X:sorry bout the LO thing
ALX500 is the new body for B9TLs in HK rite?
and ALX started after the merger with Dennis i believee
O RLY?Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:[*]
Yes, SBS9828X. ALX is Alexander Dennis, which is after merger of Dennis.
