Hi there MS! Kudos to you and your team for ensuring that the CNG buses are well-maintained before being put out for serviceOriginally posted by MS:Anyway when I told my colleague that the public is very concerned with our CNG and positively reacting, he was smiling very happily. My guys are touched to know that the public actually appreciates our hard work. Every organisation has their problems. Even SBS is not spared this fact. So it is not easy to maintain the fleet. The success of the buses daily that goes on the road everyday, is the credit of the entire workshop. When the bus returns as breakdowns, our heart sinks with the vehicle. My guys hold pride in the way they work and I'm really proud to say that I am a member of this organisation.
Thats a very subjective matter. Must depend on the seriousness of the faults, has it affected other things (no matter what I dunwan to dida-apa solve the fault then let go without realising that there're other faults undetected.) the spares availability, the manpower status, whether there're more urgent buses that awaits attention, many factors contributes.Originally posted by gynobcard:Hi there MS! How long does it take on average to rectify any faults for the CNG Buses? One of my friends experienced first-hand the air-con breakdown on 2996P yesterday morning, while I experienced a pretty tricky handbrake fault on 2995S this morning. It pains me to see the new buses breakdown so frequently, to the extent that the 3 buses on 143 today are missing in action![]()
Depending on the engine, idle speed can be anywhere from about 500 r/min to over 1000 r/min. Idle speeds can also fluctuate due to the constantly changing power demands from air-conditioning, compressors, etc. CNG and LPG engines (particularly ones that rely on venturi mixers for fuel metering) are particularly sensitive to abrupt changes in power demand and therefore have a tendancy to vary their idle speed considerably (i.e. revving up and down when stopped) - differences can be greater than 100 r/min and can be quite audibly noticeable.Originally posted by SBS9828X:1800/min? isn that the revs wen the pedal isnt stepped on?
what uncommissioned? they are commissioned, just off-road due to repairs.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:Hi there MS! I also hope that the uncommisioned CNG buses will be put on service soon! Hope to hear from you!![]()
P.S.: Sorry to miss your posts on page 4 since I was not around at that time.
Oh, I see. But, actually I read through the NEWCOMERS' GUIDE thread. It shows that SBS2990E-SBS2999G is uncommisioned.Originally posted by ^tamago^:what uncommissioned? they are commissioned, just off-road due to repairs.

Ha! Good, someone also saw this, so I did not see wrongly. The Bus is SBS 2996P. Saw it this morning at Junction of Airport Road with Hougang Ave 3 / Eunos Link, in the direction towards Eunos.Originally posted by Edgar_Davids:i saw 1 CNG on Sv 93 at Queensway
2996P is doing a 143/93 crossover in the morning peak. it is the permanent bus for that 93 slot. therafter, it returns to 143. does O405's from SLBP on 93 ring a bell?Originally posted by Edgar_Davids:seems that ayer rajah depot holding some CNG also
oic, yes i saw 0405 DM on Sv 93 before and was puzzledOriginally posted by ^tamago^:2996P is doing a 143/93 crossover in the morning peak. it is the permanent bus for that 93 slot. therafter, it returns to 143. does O405's from SLBP on 93 ring a bell?
ARBP does not hold any, neither does BBDEP.
Actually I was told that there was some political problems in to top level management from some old time employees. Thats why the CNG bus existed. But my ED (Mr Ong Boon Leong) decided to put those CNG on the road instead of leaving them to waste. Though this phase where many things break down has to be gone through, SLWS is prepared to deal with it. By facing challenges, dealing with the impossible to make it possible makes our workshop a cut above the rest. And I'm happy that my guys took it positively. And it was an extremely wise decision for my ED to put the 10 CNG buses on the road and we all support him. Inclusive of the public as you all have shown.Originally posted by SBS9818A:I remember the same problems happening with Tridents and B10TLs when they were first released. The problem was especially bad with the Tridents. I wonder why SBST wants to hibernate the buses and create problems in the long term. If they were surplus to requirements then why buy so early on?

If you all realised, the best way to recognise the bus model is through the number plates. All th 29xx series are CNG, Some 3 digits series, 37xx, 38xx, 39xx are MB0405, 72xx are Volvo Olympians 2xle, 90xx, 91xx are Leyland Olympians 3xle, 26xx & 27xx, 82xx are Volvo MK4, 18xx, 17xx are Volvo MK2
Seems like it has been becoming a trend for sbst to hibernate buses before launching them for revenue service. we have...Originally posted by SBS9818A:I remember the same problems happening with Tridents and B10TLs when they were first released.
