Oh yes, don't forget, last time there is AIRBUS SHUTTLE SVC 2, to Changi Airport.Originally posted by 105090:We need more buses to Changi Airport.
858 from Woodlands is fast
36 from Marine Parade is fast
27, 34 from Tampines and North East also fast
West has MRT, but 989 loss is a bit painful
24, 53 from AMK area takes more than 1 hour and is painfully slow, crowded and hot!
and luckily for me, 858 stops at Jln Kayu
A direct connection to SHENTON WAY!Originally posted by Takua:Why do u want Shenton Direct????

From places like Woodlands.Originally posted by samtlk:Express 507
Withdrawn & the FFW services were introduced sometime later. Any Shenton Way Direct would heavily duplicate the current FFW services (97e from the West, 10e & 196e from the East).
Or from Yishun or Sembawang.Originally posted by SBS9889U:From places like Woodlands.

personally speaking, i living in the West and having to go to Orchard daily....find that the West siders benefit a lot.... i take all the west buses u listed above....n u forgotten 7 as well....Originally posted by 105090:The people of AMK and North East really need this service.
From West you have 77, 106, 111, 174, 502, and 190 and 700
From East have 7, 14, 65, 518
From North only have 162 but thats a 60minute ride. thats all! MRt is only like a poor consolation.
North East have none. even NEL also not really "direct"
WDL got 960 & 961/961C to City area but no Orchard...Originally posted by muziq bus:personally speaking, i living in the West and having to go to Orchard daily....find that the West siders benefit a lot.... i take all the west buses u listed above....n u forgotten 7 as well....
still, BB has got 4 buses to town...(NR8 included)...that's a good thing!!
but none from WDL....
Yishun got 171 via Sembawang, Mandai, Bt Panjang Town, Upp Bt Timah, Durearn & Scotts Rd to Orchard.Originally posted by Apex-LW'21:Or from Yishun or Sembawang.

The RapidBus is dropped because sv700 now calls at all the stops along Dunearn Rd & Bt Timah Rd (between Whitley Rd & Scotts Rd) instead of only selected stops. sv700 renumbered as sv700A & ply Marina Ctr after 6.30pm on weekdays, 1.10pm on Saturdays & whole day on Sundays & public holidays.Originally posted by brotherchen1982:SMRT got Express 520, 521 & RapidBus 700 then...
Then,
Express 520-Yishun Int to Chinatown
Express 521-Bt Panjang to HarbourFront
RapidBus 700-Woodlands to Shenton Way
Now,
Express 520-Withdraw due to dupilcation of NEL
Express 521-Enhaced to Woodlands Reg Int from Bt Panjang Int & renumbered as 963
RapidBus 700-Enhaced to start from Bt Panjang Int instead of Woodlands Reg Int, dropped RapidBus name & enhanced to serve Marina Ctr(Loop) as 700A at selected timings.
This goes to show one thing....SMRT provides fast services at normal fares, unlike SBSTOriginally posted by brotherchen1982:SMRT(then TIBS) got Express 520, 521 & RapidBus 700 then...

SMRT svc that express on certain rd : 858 , 965 , 969 & some more...
can see from SMRT 966 almost 3/4 of its routes ply expressway, cannot earn much profit from it exampleOriginally posted by muziq bus:This goes to show one thing....SMRT provides fast services at normal fares, unlike SBST
It has good load during Peak Hours and rather OK load during off peak.Originally posted by busmanic:can see from SMRT 966 almost 3/4 of its routes ply expressway, cannot earn much profit from it examplechildren fare from Woodlands to Marine Parade = $0.45 if SBST were to operate it
children fare $1.56... $1.11 difference

BBT & CCK have old routes like 61 & 67 that are a pain in the butt. WDL has 961, a relic from the SBS era, plying WDL/Upp Bt Timah Rds. 171 used to take longer as it only started plying BKE from 1999 onwards.Originally posted by 105090:you all say SMRT generous.. many express routes, SBS stingy, few express routes.
reason?
SMRT territory is CCK, Yishun, BP, Bukit Batok, Woodlands, Yishun, Sembawang.
In red means original SMRT territory.
Note that those areas are extreme north-west or extremely north of Singapore. CCK to other places.. u want 190, 700, 960 to all use Upp Bt Timah, Bt Timah, Stevens to reach CBD? that takes 1 to 2 hours.
For woodlands.. we take sv965, 969, 858 as examples. SMRT cannot "enter" SBS territory, exception is Yishun services. so how? Woodlands to SKG via MRT: WDL > DBG > SKG?, or 969 is WDL > City Hall > Tampines etc? theres no escape except the expressway! So of course, to reach those places fast, expressway is the answer.
almost all woodlands sevices uses Expressway, except feeder, 169 (former is SBS), 856, 964 and a handful.
SBS has more routes, more freedom in designing routes, and therefore avoid expressways, except TPE/ SLE entering SMRT area etc, and at North East corridor. More stops means customer more places to go to in a way..
