the wheelchair ramps have to be manually lifted. only on the exit door, i think. works like a flap. no automated mechanisms.
WHY NOT! He haf to bear serious consequences if he anyhow put the rego...since he is FOSBST and WAS AT THE CEREMONY, Why not?Originally posted by stooper:Wow! You trust him a lot!
Originally posted by MS:B9TL is done by bodyworks (Comfortdelgro) in HG depot. I have seen them doing. They're rushing the remainder buses now. But we have to be patient as they have limited manpower. The guy doing bus grooming for me also explained his lack of labour. So we ought to give them credit for the sucessful prototype thats on the road.
According to Volvo S.E.A who came to my workshop, he told me that the bus B9TL is Euro4.
There is discussion going on about giving all the 5 depots each a share of the 150 buses. If thats decided, it will be good news for the commuters.
CNG is Euro 3 as confirmed by Volvo S.E.A during a short CNG explainatory course conducted in SLWS weeks ago shortly before I started to circulate the workshop display tech guide for the CNG bus in Soon Lee. But as the bus has so clean exhaust which can even pass Euro4.
I see...Originally posted by hseochin:Doesn't make sense to me B9TL is Euro-4 ?! I don't think that Volvo person is too accurate here.
As then i'll be fussy on the fuel type & no mention of SCR or other new alternative emission technologies deployed or use of any fuel additive etc. ?
Furthermore the claim on the windscreen sticker is Euro-3.
So there's enough reason to believe it's Euro-3.
As for CNG being Euro-3, perhaps they refering to CNG-diesel hybrid model ??
As if it's 'pure' CNG, it's expected to be Euro-4 ?!?
i read sumwhere that EDS on DDs are much more prone to spoils...Originally posted by busmanic:MS why is the B9TL still using destos not EDS?
If that was the case, then SMRT buses' fares deserves to be higher than that of SBST then.....rather than equal...Originally posted by 105090:EDS = more costs = higher costs = fare hike?
Hope we can see the bus number w/o routes clearly...Originally posted by Superbus:According to a member who attended the launch, the front desto will be similar to current DD-sized ones. It looked smaller because of the illusion made by the black surroundings.
Compare a set of destos costing $35 and an EDS set that cos $6k odd, which of the 2 will u choose so that its cost effective and yet deliver the same purpose?Originally posted by busmanic:MS why is the B9TL still using destos not EDS?
Haha... but i would still prefer the EDS...Originally posted by service_238:Compare a set of destos costing $35 and an EDS set that cos $6k odd, which of the 2 will u choose so that its cost effective and yet deliver the same purpose?
But remember that this is at the cost of having insufficient (and needlessly expensive) buses to go around. SBS Transit does away with such unnecessities for most of their buses, and the result is that they are able to purchase more buses at a fraction of the cost if they had brought in buses with EDS systems, which translates into more buses to use for completely new routes or for routes with higher demand (compare this with how A$$MRT rarely start completely new bus routes (their "new" routes are often the result of merging or seperating existing routes), while they struggle to cope with existing demand).Originally posted by muziq bus:Haha... but i would still prefer the EDS...
SMRT is still able to maintain the same fare as SBS...haha..
Take a look at the Nissan side EDS... They almost always are covered with the rear destos... Even if the rear destos are not at the back window, they are placed in the front windscreen... Does anyone know why? Is it front EDS too small? cannot see clearly?Originally posted by eX.A.K.R.:Just to add: EDSes are also more likely to get spoilt, with dead pixels and problems like that. You should see the front EDS of one of the buses on route 963; there seems to be a problem with the dots flipping over or something.
no...cos the rear desto holder has broken off...the SC no place to put the rear desto...so put in front. SBST rear desto still can squeeze behind the last bench.Originally posted by stooper:Even if the rear destos are not at the back window, they are placed in the front windscreen... That is why commuters can get a fast ride on SMRT... the drivers are always rushing.... SBST buses are slow and are uncomfortable and usually have small legrooms...Originally posted by eX.A.K.R.:But remember that this is at the cost of having insufficient (and needlessly expensive) buses to go around. Besides, side EDS display less information than placards, while the front EDS often squeeze in too much unnecessary information, when all we need to know is the bus number. Also, older EDSes are not very visible at night.

I'm afraid that what you said is not the truth.
It is always better to refer back to the workshops for technical specifications than to assume.
Thanx.

They improvise things in a better and simpler way...
Example: Ambulance--Air Suspension, 6 wheels instead of 4, can travel 200+km/h and stil very stable.
The trick, Air suspension at the back and they add alot of weight, so that the weight is equalized...
