B9TLs on 147 are quite a let-down, because much of the route passes through congested areas, the bus kept switching between 2,3,4 gear and kept down-shifting everytime the BC steps the pedal harder. At first the ride was ok, but as the ride progressed, it just becomes irritating. It does not help that the B9TL has a powerful engine and everytime the bus accelerates it vibrates. Consequently the ride was jerky despite the BC's efforts to keep the ride steady. If you ask me, the ZF B9TLs should be deployed for svcs with smoother traffic, the Voith B9TLs may be better off for congested svcs. As it is, SBST does not deploy buses according to performance, but ride the bus I must.

When did the frequency of 147 become so short? (Weekdays)
I was at the bus stop beside Boon Keng MRT station, in less than 15 minutes time, 4 Double Deckers 147 came.

Simple reason is that Service 147, as well as 23, 64, 65, 66, 67, 131, 139 and 857 has to pass by Tekka Market (or in hanyu pin yin, Zhu Jiao Market) in Little India. Every Deepavali, a lot of people goes to the area there to buy stuff for the celebrations, so there will be a jam for all roads leading to Buffalo Road / Serangoon Road. Weekends and as well as today, the eve of Deepavali. -

But 147 has always been rather ok in frequency, thanks to numerous down trips. I've seen quite a few times when 3 DDs come together, after the Chinatown area, heading north. -
I felt that Svc 147 would not give out those Vo3x, maybe they are used as the standby to prevent the B9tL to breakdown as they are still unstable. Cannot imagine that the B9Tl need to accelerate so much when it is going up a small slope. By the way, why B9TL tends to move backwards (like those private buses), when they are going to accelerate after they stop in the bus stop.

I took 12, but never had this problem

private buses most, if not all, are Manual. Manual vehicles can roill down all the way if clutch is insufficiently release
even auto cars also roll backwards on a slope briefly beforemoving forward when moving off in a stationary position. -
May have to do with the lack of power before the turbo kicks in. thats why i think that SBST should deploy B9TL on svcs which uses expressways like 161&168 i suppose

Example: 147 passes by SGH, thus it got more B9TLs, that can help those physically handicapped people to go hospital, whereas 161, 168 do not even pass by any hospitals.

If thats the case, why not give MB 0405 to 161/168? :p -
Why do not want to buy more those B10TL chassis? As I felt that they are bigger. These chassis can be modified to have the WAB feature.

Partly is due to comfort. From what i see, SBST 0405 is much more suitable for city routes whereas Volvo are much more suitable for long distance Express routes. If the PIWs were to take the B9TL on sv147,they can only board at Hougang area..Because after the area the bus have no space for them..

Are you sure what are you talking about ? You want me to list down every single bus stop which is Wheelchair Friendly ? The only stretch of road which is not suitable is Yio Chu Kang Rd / Yio Chu Kang Link / Jln Besar. The B10TL sucks anyway, they can't speed well. -

Hey , is it true that the B9TLs that emit a wheeeeeerrrrrrrrrrooo sound is a ZFed one? Cuz i've heard this sound from the B9TLs deployed on 196 at bedok interchange, which i think sounds similar to SBS9888Y. Hmm i think that the side view of the B9TLs is extremely dazling, dont ye think? Green tinted glass?? I find that they are more dazling from the side than the Habits.

but they are really very presentable and stylish on the outside..

is it true tat SBST has released more B9TLs?? cos i was at chinatown and serangoon then saw many of these buses on SVC 147 and SVC 12..
and is it true tat all of these buses are wheelchair friendly??
