Hmm think that will go to SMRT i hope so!Originally posted by carbikebus:I'm awaiting for SBST to buy ..... probably some Scania K230UB
It have always been this case if you do not notice.Originally posted by Y_Shun:When did the frequency of 147 become so short? (Weekdays)
I was at the bus stop beside Boon Keng MRT station, in less than 15 minutes time, 4 Double Deckers 147 came.
3 B9TLs
1 Volvo Double Decker
If it happened within this month, then it is a common thing.Originally posted by Y_Shun:When did the frequency of 147 become so short? (Weekdays)

But I don't think SBS will redesign their timetable just for this festival!Originally posted by demag_ac:If it happened within this month, then it is a common thing.
Simple reason is that Service 147, as well as 23, 64, 65, 66, 67, 131, 139 and 857 has to pass by Tekka Market (or in hanyu pin yin, Zhu Jiao Market) in Little India. Every Deepavali, a lot of people goes to the area there to buy stuff for the celebrations, so there will be a jam for all roads leading to Buffalo Road / Serangoon Road. Weekends and as well as today, the eve of Deepavali.
There's something call spare bus. There are sure DDs from 147 that is out.Originally posted by chickenlittle2:I felt that Svc 147 would not give out those Vo3x, maybe they are used as the standby to prevent the B9tL to breakdown as they are still unstable. By the way, why B9TL tends to move backwards (like those private buses), when they are going to accelerate after they stop in the bus stop.
Ya, I also experienced this...but only with 147.Originally posted by chickenlittle2:By the way, why B9TL tends to move backwards (like those private buses), when they are going to accelerate after they stop in the bus stop.
May have to do with the lack of power before the turbo kicks in. As far as I can see, the turbo kick is so great, many BCs often release the pedal slightly after the lock-up engages.Originally posted by chickenlittle2:I felt that Svc 147 would not give out those Vo3x, maybe they are used as the standby to prevent the B9tL to breakdown as they are still unstable. B9TLs on 147 are quite a let-down, because much of the route passes through congested areas, the bus kept switching between 2,3,4 gear and kept down-shifting everytime the BC steps the pedal harder. At first the ride was ok, but as the ride progressed, it just becomes irritating. It does not help that the B9TL has a powerful engine and everytime the bus accelerates it vibrates. Consequently the ride was jerky despite the BC's efforts to keep the ride steady. If you ask me, the ZF B9TLs should be deployed for svcs with smoother traffic, the Voith B9TLs may be better off for congested svcs. As it is, SBST does not deploy buses according to performance, but ride the bus I must.

thats why i think that SBST should deploy B9TL on svcs which uses expressways like 161&168 i suppose
I think SBST only gives new buses for routes that benefits/high demand/or needs it.Originally posted by swee_heng:thats why i think that SBST should deploy B9TL on svcs which uses expressways like 161&168 i suppose![]()
Partly is due to comfort. From what i see, SBST 0405 is much more suitable for city routes whereas Volvo are much more suitable for long distance Express routes. Again, Volvo got more seating capacity as compare to Merdz.Originally posted by Y_Shun:I think SBST only gives new buses for routes that benefits/high demand/or needs it.
Example: 147 passes by SGH, thus it got more B9TLs, that can help those physically handicapped people to go hospital, whereas 161, 168 do not even pass by any hospitals.
I don't think SBST gives buses according to their engine/the power of their engine.
If thats the case, why not give MB 0405 to 161/168? :p
How do you buy when they are no longer in production ? Buy 2nd Hand Volvo B10TL from HK ?Originally posted by chickenlittle2:Why do not want to buy more those B10TL chassis? As I felt that they are bigger. These chassis can be modified to have the WAB feature.
If 168 and 161 have B9s.. when the PIWs reach Woodlands Interchange, how do you expect them to get Up to the ground level.Originally posted by Volvo Olympian:Why you want 161 and 168 to use B9TL? Are you sure what are you talking about ? You want me to list down every single bus stop which is Wheelchair Friendly ? The only stretch of road which is not suitable is Yio Chu Kang Rd / Yio Chu Kang Link / Jln Besar. Get your facts right.Originally posted by choww:If the PIWs were to take the B9TL on sv147,they can only board at Hougang area..Because after the area the bus have no space for them..![]()
The B10TLs are smaller width wise, they are standard 2.50m wide buses, while the B9TLs are 2.55m wide, both are 12m.Originally posted by chickenlittle2:Why do not want to buy more those B10TL chassis? As I felt that they are bigger. These chassis can be modified to have the WAB feature.
I think he meant that the high passenger loading for Svc 147 made PIWs virtually impossible to board the bus, other than from the interchanges.Originally posted by sBs_boy:Are you sure what are you talking about ? i have to agree on this although i prefer SMRT habit than most of SBST buses..Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Hey , is it true that the B9TLs that emit a wheeeeeerrrrrrrrrrooo sound is a ZFed one? Cuz i've heard this sound from the B9TLs deployed on 196 at bedok interchange, which i think sounds similar to SBS9888Y. Hmm i think that the side view of the B9TLs is extremely dazling, dont ye think? Green tinted glass?? I find that they are more dazling from the side than the Habits.
