As Volvo Olympian said above, the gearbox sound. Voith gearboxes have a distinctive whistling sound, making buses sound rather futuristic; perk your ears up for them when the bus decelerates - it will go something like "wEEEEEeeeeeeeeuuu...".
As for ZF, I'm not too sure, but I heard some of them have a howling sound.
why not?Originally posted by TIB1049L:Another question: Is it possible to get B9TL on 161; appear as cameo once but any chance to come again?
Dont ever think of having any perm. We all know that Woodlands Int is very wheelchair "Accessible"Originally posted by TIB1049L:Similar to Volgren Bendy and Habit

And so in other words , 161 and 168 may not get any B9TL except 161 which happen once and i don't think it will ever happen againOriginally posted by sBs_boy:Dont ever think of having any perm. We all know that Woodlands Int is very wheelchair "Accessible"
I saw 3 of them at JE Int few days ago.Originally posted by sinicker:how many B9s on S51? i feel like gg for a joyride tmr!
woodlands regional interchange in the underground has got no lift access to get to the MRT stn and causeway point shopping centre on the ground floorOriginally posted by Volvo Olympian:And so in other words , 161 and 168 may not get any B9TL except 161 which happen once and i don't think it will ever happen again
It won't help either - There's no lift to link to interchange if someone need to change bus at interchange!Originally posted by No_10_Tomas:another alternative is to relocate the boarding berth of sv 161 to the taxi stands by the side of the station
Voith is 4-speed while ZF is 6-speedOriginally posted by TheVistaAero:What's the difference between ZF And Voith
To be more specific, the new B9TLs Voith gearbox model is the VOITH D864.3, 4-speed gearbox, and is currently the only bus to be eqipped with 4-speed Voith gearbox, other Voiths were all 3-speed. ZFs has alot of speeds available here. There were 4 speeds(ZF 4HP500/502 most common one), 5-speed(ZF 5HP590: used in the Scania L94UB,SBS9888Y), 6-speed (ZF 6HP502 : used in the B9TLs)Originally posted by No_10_Tomas:Voith is 4-speed while ZF is 6-speed
the 9888 trial B10TL has ZF transmission but the rest of 50 buses Voith
SBS886L is a special bus with a 4-speed Voith.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:To be more specific, the new B9TLs Voith gearbox model is the VOITH D864.3, 4-speed gearbox, and is currently the only bus to be eqipped with 4-speed Voith gearbox, other Voiths were all 3-speed.
so smrt's o405/g/habits are ZF four speed huh??Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:To be more specific, the new B9TLs Voith gearbox model is the VOITH D864.3, 4-speed gearbox, and is currently the only bus to be eqipped with 4-speed Voith gearbox, other Voiths were all 3-speed. YeahOriginally posted by manjieass:so smrt's o405/g/habits are ZF four speed huh??
Yeap. But they were equipped with the older 4HP500 models. Newer ones are 4HP502, wonder whats the difference.Originally posted by manjieass:so smrt's o405/g/habits are ZF four speed huh??
The last digit 2 means that the gearbox is the ZF EcoMat-II transmission.Originally posted by Scania N113CRB luver:Yeap. But they were equipped with the older 4HP500 models. You can hear the difference in gearbox sound, the "weeeoorrrrrr" sound is softer or almost inaudible than its older ZF 4HP500 bros.

when DDs were introduced to 161 & 168 in 2003, whole fleet of DDs were B10TL, ended up even low-floor buses were not even needed on 161 and 168Originally posted by swee_heng:The only way that 161 & 168 gets B9s is only when an elevator wis constructed to serve WL MRT & Int
