my friend says he need to take 2 buses from his house ard safra yishun to chong pang camp...i think it's ridiculous...is there any better way?

Anyway, I suggest that he take route 812 (not 812E though - tell him to be aware of this) and alight at the Chong Pang market. From there, he will have to walk a long way through the market to reach Chong Pang Camp.
This is the best method. If he doesn't like to walk, be prepared for two buses, then. -

take bus 7, 77, 106, 123 or 174 from orchard mrt (orchard boulevard) or somerset mrt bus stop.
coming from the west, u may take:
- bus 105 from commonwealth mrt (opposite new hdb flats)
- 105 or 106 from buona vista estate blk 43 or dover mrt (opposite SP) or clementi mrt (opposite cinema/interchange)
- bus 7 from clementi bus interchange
