I think i figured out why everyone hates CAC Nissans....BUT!!!! This is hereby a 980 thread, so post your CAC lamenting elsewhere.
Uh, and to those who hates the Nissans, consider writing a petition, writing in to Straits Times or go to the Hong Lim Park (Speaker's Corner).

The reasons is simple,The spare parts are practically cheap/Easy to maintain/Easy to get spare parts and the engine is very durable and rugged although the aircon and acceleration sucks compared to Mercedes,Dennis,Scanias!I've got a feeling that they will scrap or withdrawn them gradually once they purchase zero step bendies or rigid buses.

just remove the Nissan from SV 980 and left it with 9 buses. Those scanias will remain as spare for other services.. -
Ah, 963 got some load when 665P is around, I have nothing against this, but 963 do have a lot of bendies in Bukit Batok-towards-Habourfront direction, within 5 minutes, I don't mind if 665P is not on 963 at all and placed perm on 980, even if I take 963 in the morning, but some services do need it more, then can take away.
Need it more as in look better, or customer flow, it all depends on who and where you see... -
Said before, SMRT can sell all of the CAC Nissans they have now, to some country, take more sell more better, since brother company CSS want to give away buses, and then take the cash, buy some low floor, modern looking, OAC Neoplan Centroliners, first hand please!
Then service 980 deserve some low floor, modern buses. -
I dun have any business relationship with Neoplan, but just that I have a Centroliner in my fleet of models, and its just so cool, why not have something that can satisfy so many conditions?

Good news to those who don't really fancy UD (I'm sure there are some). As of 02 October, there are no UDs (at least full day) spotted on service 980. There seem to be an increase in the number of Scanias (WA and ELBO) and Dennis Lance.
Scanias spotted are TIB 649 L and TIB 844 P. -

And I saw a picture of TIB 1256E on route 804 some time ago. It was a mixed bag of emotions: nostlagia to see those buses back on their old haven, and "WTF" to see such creaky old buses used on such a crowded route.
Anyway, recently I have noticed that there are less Nissans running on route 980. Instead I see more Scanias, and on the last weekend, I even saw a Habit. Also, I think route 980 now has one Mercedes MB O405 Volgren as a perm bus, which should improve things a bit.
However, I think that there is still room for improvement. It seems to me, from the comments left here, that they are gradually being dumped on route 187 (a new Nissan dump? ). Instead, I think these buses should be kept as spare buses. When a bus route needs more buses, it can take in a few buses from other less important or used routes, and the Nissans can help cover for those unimportant routes. -
