The reason is very simple. TIBS had always believed in CBU (Completely Built Up) buses. Hence, the Nissans are CBU in Japan and then sent to Singapore. Besides, I believe back then, besides Japan, no other body manufacturers have body kits that fits a Japanese configured city bus. You all should know Japan is very self sufficient, especially in terms of IT. -

what i think is these CAC Nissans should get its windows removed & use glass sheets to replace its windows , just like wat SBST's CAC buses have. Those windows on Nissans looks awful & ugly , if tey put glass sheets it will be better

i know why there isnt any Nissans in KJ coz those buses in KJ are good runners , take KJ's 190 bendies/shorties for example it runs like siao on PIE , at least got 80/90km/h , while WL's 960 bendies and shorties are damn slow. it seems like Wl's buses are damn lousy & Kj has gd buses thats why WL has most Nissan cacs

KJDEP in fact used to have Nissan buses (RCN and SCN) and Hino Buses. In 1998, it was Tibs' decision to centralise majority of Nissan buses under WLDEP when it first opened due to maintenance reasons. That was when full fleet of KJ Nissans (RCN and SCN) and majority of AMK Nissans were transferred over to WLDEP. SMRT looks very cheapskate , some ppl say that SBST is even more cheapskate because of their NAC buses , SMRt is MORE cheapskate coz they just use stoppers on their windows as a conversion of buses. 172 used to have Hinos too

At that time NAC Hinos were deployed mainly on Tibs services 5, 75, 176, 343 and 852.
Service 5 was withdrawn and subsequently the NAC Hinos went to services 172 and 175 when Tibs took over from SBS in late 1999.
Service 176 had its NAC Hino fleets withdrawn in 2000 when habits came in.
Service 343 was renumbered to service 921 and the control then came under WLDEP, where 1 OAC Scania (TIB638T) and 1 NAC Nissan (TIB322D) were used.
Services 75 and 852 operations were also subsequently transferred to WLDEP and AMDEP respectively, hence no more NAC Hinos was deployed.
Ever since, the NAC Hinos continued to serve on services 172 and 175 till they were phased out in end 2001, where it was replaced with OAC DAFs. -
I think otherwise... I think the SBST Striders' interior look better than the SMRT ones. SBST ones seem "cooler" and "sleeker" with the darker panel colours, compared to SMRT's green panels which vibrate non-stop when the bus is not moving. SBST Striders with the yellow seats look way better, both internally and externally. I like the single headlight, compared to SMRT's "martian" headlights with the ugly fake grille (which have dropped off on some) between the headlights... -
