The reason is very simple. TIBS had always believed in CBU (Completely Built Up) buses. Hence, the Nissans are CBU in Japan and then sent to Singapore. This explains why the buses are of Japanese configuration.Originally posted by swee_heng:cant these Nissans being designed in other ways? wy must it be designed in the way which it is like now. These design looks old! They should at least be designed in a way that it looks like a bus in 1990s. With its current shape , its design of the body looks no difference with the 1980s SCN & U31F. Take a look at the Dafs buses in CSS , they were introduced in 1992 , even older than the RCN & it has a more good looking design. So i just dont undderstand why a bus newer than these 1992 Dafs has an oldest design , shame on the designer of these RCNs to be launched in 1993. Even te older Mk2s in SBST were more gd looking.
So that means all SMRT buses are built overseas then shipped to SG? Unlike some SBS buses which are assembled here?Originally posted by off_service:The reason is very simple. LOL... The exterior will be colder than the lousy CAC air-con interior...Originally posted by swee_heng:how abt this? SMRT should sell these CAC nissans away to cold countries like Arctic or Antarcticar.
should sell to Ireland instead, just like the Volvo B57s.Originally posted by swee_heng:how abt this? SMRT should sell these CAC nissans away to cold countries like Arctic or Antarcticar.
then it will be freezing ...Originally posted by stooper:LOL... The exterior will be colder than the lousy CAC air-con interior...![]()
Yeah, another cheapskate thing of SMRT... The ELBO Scania windows rattle like crazy... At least SBST replaces the windows.Originally posted by swee_heng:what i think is these CAC Nissans should get its windows removed & use glass sheets to replace its windows , just like wat SBST's CAC buses have. Those windows on Nissans looks awful & ugly , if tey put glass sheets it will be better
KJDEP in fact used to have Nissan buses (RCN and SCN) and Hino Buses. In 1998, it was Tibs' decision to centralise majority of Nissan buses under WLDEP when it first opened due to maintenance reasons. That was when full fleet of KJ Nissans (RCN and SCN) and majority of AMK Nissans were transferred over to WLDEP. Hinos were then left behind at KJ.Originally posted by swee_heng:i know why there isnt any Nissans in KJ coz those buses in KJ are good runners , take KJ's 190 bendies/shorties for example it runs like siao on PIE , at least got 80/90km/h , while WL's 960 bendies and shorties are damn slow. it seems like Wl's buses are damn lousy & Kj has gd buses thats why WL has most Nissan cacs
Yes.Originally posted by stooper:So that means all SMRT buses are built overseas then shipped to SG? Unlike some SBS buses which are assembled here?
ya. SMRT looks very cheapskate , some ppl say that SBST is even more cheapskate because of their NAC buses , SMRt is MORE cheapskate coz they just use stoppers on their windows as a conversion of buses. SBST's CAC buses looks as if like they are newly bought because of its windowsOriginally posted by stooper:Yeah, another cheapskate thing of SMRT... The ELBO Scania windows rattle like crazy... No wonder the acquisition cost for SMRT (former Tibs) buses is higher. However, the Hispano Mercs and bendies have a classier look, especially the Habit ones.Originally posted by off_service:Yes.
Yeah true , and there was also Hino HT238K on Sv 175 during its final years.Originally posted by TIB1018B:KJDEP in fact used to have Nissan buses (RCN and SCN) and Hino Buses. u sure 80-90kmph? 60kmph looks quite fast le..Originally posted by swee_heng:i know why there isnt any Nissans in KJ coz those buses in KJ are good runners , take KJ's 190 bendies/shorties for example it runs like siao on PIE , at least got 80/90km/h , while WL's 960 bendies and shorties are damn slow. it seems like Wl's buses are damn lousy & Kj has gd buses thats why WL has most Nissan cacs
I think otherwise... I think the SBST Striders' interior look better than the SMRT ones. SBST ones seem "cooler" and "sleeker" with the darker panel colours, compared to SMRT's green panels which vibrate non-stop when the bus is not moving. Moreover, for the SMRT Striders, the air-con filter on the green panel is very dirty or sometimes, not even present, letting you see what's inside...Originally posted by iveco:Even the interior of the CRL Striders look more fanciful than that of the Mk IVs.
ya. Take AMDEP's TIB778Y , i took once on 169 there isnt any stoppers on te window and the window still can be opened. Some CAC Merc in Woodlands also.Originally posted by SBS9889U:Some CAC mercs some window can open one(SMRT).
SMRT looks as if like they dont have any WAB or CNG buses while SBST has these buses wich looks more updated and modern.Originally posted by sBs_boy:So.. Whatz Your Point ??
