Hey dude, dont correct a bus enthusiast... 179 and 242 share buses...Originally posted by chickenlittle2:No la, it had been a long time since it come to serve 242.
Characteristic of the MB0405 on SBST. Probably bcos of the W3E gearbox disengaging?Originally posted by SBS BUSES LOVER:yah , always wondered why engine sound like that , when it brakes before it stops the bus jerks a little , it is usually driven by a chinese and indianBC
AFAIK, no SBST Merc O405 sounds like motorcycle. So far, only 161U has a sound like SMRTB one.Originally posted by SBS3625D:Characteristic of the MB0405 on SBST. Probably bcos of the W3E gearbox disengaging?
it's the gearbox, not the driver.Originally posted by SBS BUSES LOVER:yah , always wondered why engine sound like that , when it brakes before it stops the bus jerks a little
I actually meant that 340U (along with 341S & 286T), were once 199 buses... Then they all got transfered to 179 when it was introduced along with the super fast drivers.Originally posted by muziq bus:Hey dude, dont correct a bus enthusiast... 179 and 242 share buses...
that is why, at times, 242 gets the Leyland Olympian 3-axled DD buses...
its 482T that is still with 242 once a 199 bus , 286T is a 197perm.Originally posted by stooper:I actually meant that 340U (along with 341S & 286T), were once 199 buses... Then they all got transfered to 179 when it was introduced along with the super fast drivers.
286T USED to be 199 perm, before they split into 179 & 199...Originally posted by SBS BUSES LOVER:its 482T that is still with 242 once a 199 bus , 286T is a 197perm.

All SBST buses speed cut@60kph. If the speedo can show something like 65kph then the BC must send in the bus for calibration. Else when accident is involved and found that the speed limitor not working, the BC who drove the bus will be in deep troubles. Cannnot blame workshop as the workshop staffs do not have the luxury of test driving every bus to check if it can hit above 60kph. I have caught BC who drove 80kph on faulty speed limiters of L3xle. I take extremely serious views on these safety gadgets. Because everyday our buses run on the road, must ensure no one dies or get hurt due to technical failures.Originally posted by chickenlittle2:But do express 502 buses in PIE go after 60km/h?
Then I must say that the LOs on 161 all have faulty speed-limitors bcos all run on SLE with speed exceeding 70km/h throughout most journeys. I don't look at the speedometer on the bus, I use my father's car to check out how fast they go. The record though, goes to 965 MB0405 at 85km/h. I love the LOs when they speed, they are very stable.Originally posted by MS:All SBST buses speed cut@60kph. It's also not surprising that BC blame on the brakes not working during accidents. But workshop not stupid. In cases when BC say brakes suddenly not working... such things hardly exist. In fact to my experience, I think such things don't exist. Becos if air leak, the brakes can seize. One minute got brake, the other minute no brakes...![]()
